See, this is why server preservation is important.
This game's online features are no longer supported.
While this game's online features were once accessible, they are (as of September 1, 2021) no longer officially supported and online-exclusive features may be documented as now-unseen content.
Hmmm...
To do:
There are unused car presets as well as some debug ones...
  • Unused text strings as well. Use Labrune to look through them.

Need for Speed: Undercover lets you play as an undercover cop while driving around the most blinding bright city in a 7th-generation racing game. Infamous for its development cycle, which accounted for how EA Black Box was split into 2 teams to work on Undercover and ProStreet at the same time, leading to Undercover turning out incredibly unpolished. And yes, because it was rushed for a late quarter release, there's a good amount of unused content to uncover.

Prototype Info

Unused Cars

AAA_AAA_AAA_01

AAA_AAA_AAA_01 is a blocky test car. It uses the Porsche 911 Turbo's frontend text, has the BMW M3 E92's bumper mesh, plus two floating plates on top of the vehicle with the Bugatti Veyron 16.4's textures. It also uses the 911 Turbo's engine audio and performance tunings, but also has its own tunings which are unused.

Aston Martin DBS

The DBS appears unused in the Xbox 360 beta version of the game, but its files don't exist in the final build. However, there's a mention of its car parts and hood camera position in the GLOBAL.BIN.

Speedtest Audi R8

Inside the pvehicle node is one for aud_r8_stk_08_speedtest, which is a version of the Audi R8 4.2 FSI quattro with significantly greater acceleration and top speed than the normally playable one.

Buick GNX

The Buick GNX's mesh consists of a low LOD Camaro SS model from ProStreet, and has Ryan Cooper's driver model taken from there. Its vehicle node lacks performance parts and engine audio, thus it inherits those of its parent; the default, which uses the Nissan 370Z's audio and the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X's performance, specifically.

Chrysler 300C SRT-8

The 300C SRT-8 is a leftover from Need for Speed: Carbon. The model is unfinished and certain aftermarket parts can be equipped. Its performance parts are always locked because the 300C is a Tier 0 car. Its price is $35,000.

Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera

The Gallardo Superleggera is a leftover from ProStreet. Its damage model is incomplete, bodykits don't work and its performance is completely broken. Its frontend is "gallardos". It was likely replaced by the LP 560-4 facelift variant during development.

Lamborghini Reventón

The Lamborghini Reventón is mentioned in GLOBALB.BUN in build 1.1.2.1, however it doesn't have a model or textures.

Nissan 350Z (Z33)

Just like the 350Z in Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005), it's unused here (but this time it's the 2006 model also seen in Need for Speed: ProStreet, like the placeholder Camaro SS mesh for the Buick GNX). Its performance parts are all identical, meaning upgrades will not improve its statistics. It is also capable of having any spoiler variant put onto it.

Notably, in the Xbox 360 beta build, this car was used at the start of the game. In the final, you drive a 370Z (Z34) instead. The Nissan 350Z is a Tier 3 car priced at $65,500. Like AAA_AAA_AAA_01, it uses the Porsche 911 Turbo (997)'s frontend string, but has its own unused frontend strings listed as "350z".

Saleen S7

The only leftovers of the Saleen S7 are the logo and vehicle stats. However, the stats are unfinished. It is likely assumed that the Twin Turbo variant of the said car would be used in-game.

Subaru Impreza WRX STI (GDB-F)

Like the Superleggera and 350Z, it's a leftover from ProStreet. It lacks an entry in the vehicle database (same goes for performance, engine audio, and Tier), and it has no additional (functional) bodykits. Also, the damage model is either unfinished or broken.

Collector's Edition Cars

The Pontiac Solstice GXP and Audi RS4 (B7) have code for setting them to be exclusive to the Collector's Edition ("IsCollectorEdition"). Setting these to True makes them unpurchasable without owning said edition.

Also, the Porsche Cayman S (987), Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (R230), Koenigsegg CCX, BMW Z4 M Coupe (E86) and Dodge Challenger Concept can be made purchasable in the PC version just by changing the IsCollectorEdition field from True to False or deleting the field entirely through VltEd. however, they also have a hidden in-game price.

Prices for Collector's Edition Cars

Because these cars were set to being Collector's Edition exclusive, the following prices set are unused due to the aforementioned reason, in which buying the Collector's Edition removes the prices and unlock restrictions from the Collector's Edition-only cars. The Collector's Edition can still be bought on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, but due to changes on the official Need for Speed website, it can no longer be purchased on the PC version. However, players can again make these cars available in the PC version by falsifying or deleting their IsCollectorEdition field.

  • BMW Z4 M Coupe (E86) - $138.000
  • Dodge Challenger Concept - $181.500
  • Koenigsegg CCX - $315.000
  • Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (R230) - $175.000
  • Porsche Cayman S (987) - $109.000

Unused Video

In the game's files there is an unused video intended for promoting the Nissan 370Z (Z34). Of note is that it has three three unused events intended for it.

Unused Audio

Music

The licensed tracks Tricky - Coalition, Kinky - Mexican Radio, and The Pinker Tones - Electrotumbao are mentioned in the credits, but only the first track can be found in nfs09rc.mpf (subsong 22); it never plays in-game. Electrotumbao did appear in the Xbox 360 demo build and in the 6th generation version.

(Source: Original TCRF research)

In the Xbox 360 demo build, music like Stompbox and Never Wanted to Dance (Electro Hurtz Mix) isn't edited unlike their released counterparts.

Unused Text

Located within the language files are strings for cars not included in the final game, including leftover text strings from ProStreet and older titles.
