This is a sub-page of OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast (PlayStation 2).

This page describes the differences between OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast and its significantly altered Japanese port, which kept the arcade version's OutRun 2 SP name.

Hmmm...
To do:
Add more details.

Title Screen

The title screen was changed to match the arcade game.

Music

OutRun 2 SP added 4 new music tracks: Lift You Up!, Splash Wave -SP Remix-, Passing Breeze -SP Remix-, and Rush A Difficulty -SP Remix-.

It also added loop points to many of the songs. In Coast 2 Coast, all songs would fade out and restart when they reached the end (most noticeable with the classic Outrun and Turbo OutRun music, where the fadeout point was shorter than a standard 5-stage race). The Japanese port addressed this, properly looping the 7 original Outrun 2 songs as well as the Outrun and Turbo Outrun music, but several others still fade out and restart during the longer 15-stage races.

Multiplayer

OutRun 2 SP removed online and LAN support.

PSP Link

The ability to link to PSP was removed, as the PSP version of the game was not released in Japan. Unlockables that required the PSP link can be bought normally now.

Graphics Differences

Coast 2 Coast is missing the track ending animations from the arcade version: the volcano erupting if you finish on Giant Statues, and the space shuttle taking off if you end on Milky Way. These were added back in OutRun 2 SP.

Some of the female characters' outfits are more revealing in OutRun 2 SP.

Controls

OutRun 2 SP adds support for Logitech Driving Force and Driving Force Pro steering wheels.
