Pokémon Ranger/Unused NPCs

Early Player Design

The file normal in the player folder has no proper NPC params associated with it and is not referenced anywhere. This appears to be either the original design for the male player or a template for player sprites in general. This design is based on the Pokémon Rangers encountered in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire.

Unused NPCs

Surprisingly, the files contain a lot unused NPCs, most of which are famous Pokémon trainers and characters from other games in the series.

Unused Frames

watakku_man

This sheet is used by the Drowzee guy, but its name and several unused frames suggest the developers originally had different plans for this character. His internal name is based on Jumpluff’s Japanese name. The first set shows the character gliding with a seed. The second sheet has three frames showing Jumpluff from the front.
