Unused Areas

Cipher Lab

A few unused rooms for the Cipher Lab (D1) are leftover from Pokémon Colosseum's subway station to The Under. None of these areas feature music.

D1_garage_B1

D1_garage_B1 is the first floor of the basement on the left side of the Cipher Lab. The stairs will bring you to an actual spot in the Cipher Lab. There is room for stairs to transport the player to in the actual game, but there are no stairs to go back down to this basement, making this area inaccessible in the game.

Like the room above it, D1_garage_B2_1 has functional entrance and exit points. Flashing lights and other environmental animations function normally.

In D1_garage_B2_2, the actual subway station room, all of the ambient lights and solids are fully functional. The doors of the subway, known in Colosseum as the Shadow Liner, can be opened, but the subway will not transport you anywhere and will remain in place.

The other two unused areas of the Cipher Lab are the cutscenes for the Under Subway's arrival and departure to and from the Cipher Lab. In these cutscenes, the player is loaded and has freedom to move anywhere as the cutscene loops over and over.

D1_garage_B2_2_ev_1 is a cutscene used in Colosseum of the subway departing from the station beneath the Cipher Lab. In XD, the player can move freely without any collision, and the departure animation will continuously loop.

D1_garage_B2_2_ev_2 is a cutscene used in Colosseum of the subway arriving at the station beneath the Cipher Lab. In XD, the player can move freely without any collision, and the arrival animation will continuously loop.

Mt. Battle

In Colosseum, a Ho-oh can be obtained by clearing Mt. Battle under special conditions, but Ho-oh cannot normally be obtained in XD. Still, the "area" in the game where the player was notified that they will receive Ho-oh, D2_presentroom, still remains in the game's data.

Realgam Tower

In Pokémon Colosseum, Realgam Tower was the game's final area with more domes to explore than in Pokémon XD. While these interiors are absent, the exterior remains and can be fully explored out of bounds in D4_out. The front of Realgam Tower is still in construction, and the Gear item obtainable in Colosseum still flashes but cannot be collected.

Citadark Isle

D6_cruiser contains an unused room that allows the player to walk through Greevil's cruiser while it is parked by Citadark Isle. It uses Citadark Isle's music and lighting, and while the area's solids aren't completely polished, they are functioning somewhat regularly. Exiting the area at the very end of the boat brings the player out between the two docks at the bottom of Citadark Isle.

Phenac City

Pokémon Colosseum had e-Reader cards that could be used in the Card e Room that could be found behind Phenac Stadium's left door. However, the e-Reader cards for Colosseum were only ever released in Japan, and the Card e Room can only be accessed in other versions of Colosseum with cheats. Despite the e-Reader being discontinued in 2004, the Card e Room still exists in Pokémon XD. No NPCs are present, and the PC in the room uses the design from Colosseum but functions like all in-game PCs.

Pyrite Town

Every map of the Pyrite Cave from Pokémon Colosseum remains in Pokémon XD but left unused. Each room still functions normally except that there are no NPCs, no PCs or Healing Machines, and no entrances or exits. These maps also do not play any music.

M2_cave_1F_1 is a large map with pipes and water. Because entrances and exits do not function, it is not possible to explore both sides of the map.

M2_cave_1F_2 was the room where Mirror B. was fought in Pokémon Colosseum. The doors can not be entered from the side facing away from the camera, and the doors also loop their opening animation.

M2_cave_2F_1 is one of the various maze-like rooms in the Pyrite Cave.

M2_cave_3F_1 contains the entrance to the Pyrite Cave from Pyrite Town, which is sealed off in the actual game.

M2_cave_3F_1_bf is the area used during a Pokémon battle in the Pyrite Cave. Since the Pyrite Cave cannot be accessed in XD and there are no battles that take place in this area, this goes unused.

M2_cave_3F_2 is one of the various maze-like rooms in the Pyrite Cave.

M2_enter_1F_2 is a duplicate of the Pyrite Colosseum entrance room that appears to be a leftover from Colosseum. The PC and Healing Machine use their designs from Colosseum, and while the player cannot interact with the PC, the Healing Machine will open up the PC menu. The doors will also loop their opening animation repeatedly.

Snagem Hideout

A few rooms for Snagem Hideout appear to be remnants of cutscenes used for Pokémon Colosseum. In these rooms, there are no collisions preventing the player from walking through anything.

S2_hallway_1 is a portion of the Snagem Hideout, featuring a hallway with a purple smoke/fog animation looping across the hall.

There are three different versions of Snagem Hideout's exterior in Pokémon XD's data. The second one, S2_out_2 is used in the game while the other two go unused and have no collision. S2_out_1 has a brief looping animation of a hole appearing on the upper left side of the hideout while a purple smoke rises from the area the hole appears.

The second unused version of Snagem Hideout and third version in the game's data is S2_out_3. This version has a much more detailed hole in the same spot of the hideout, the front door to the hideout loops its opening animation, and flames and spark effects appear at the top of the hideout. Both unused exteriors of Snagem Hideout are likely to crash the game soon after being loaded.

The opening cutscene of Colosseum shows the player's avatar collecting the Snag Machine item from Snagem Hideout. S2_snatchroom_1 is an in-game version of the area that goes unused in XD. Loading it into the game reveals that the Snag Machine is still on display inside the hideout. There is also a hole in the front wall of the hideout with a white outline, and the camera will be much closer to the player than usual.

Test Rooms

Seven rooms presumably used for testing are in the game's files under the ID B1. While some of them can be loaded with cheats or modifications to the ISO, B1_4, B1_5, and B1_7 will crash the game upon loading.

B1_1

B1_1 is a small room reminiscent of rooms inside the S.S. Libra, although it appears to use unique textures exclusive to this area. No music plays, and there are no entrance or exits. There is no way to cross the gaps in the elevated floors in the room's current state, and when the player jumps off of a ledge, there is no falling animation.

B1_2 and B1_3 are similar rooms, but the player cannot move.

B1_6

B1_6 will load the player into a large solid gray platform, but the player will be unable to move.

TEST000, TEST001, TEST002, TEST003, and TEST 004

TEST000, TEST001, TEST002, TEST003, and TEST004 are all identical to B1_6 and will bring the player to a large solid gray platform with no control.

tv_test

The room tv_test is a duplicate of the interior of Outskirt Stand with no music. No NPCs are present, and the room cannot be exited normally. The TV in the room seems to be off or not functioning. Oddly, pressing A in front of the jukebox will open up the PC menu.

Ending Cutscenes

Pokémon XD's ending cutscene uses a pre-rendered video of characters and locations in the game most likely to remove loading time between the many different areas. While the camera and remaining environmental objects move similarly, all characters are missing, and the scenes will loop endlessly. The following ending areas will crash the game upon loading:

ending_Scene01 shows a brief angle of Citadark Isle's dock.

ending_Scene02 shows the clouds clear and the sun shine over Citadark Isle. Oddly, the portion of the island loaded will rotate as the clouds clear.

These three areas load the same angle of Pyrite Town as the camera slowly pushes in towards the windmill and the ONBS building.

ending_Scene07 shows an angle of Phenac City primarily featuring the staircase towards the middle of the town.

Unused Menu Areas

Originally used in Colosseum for the e-Reader card menu, this menu's background area is still present in XD. This circular design underneath the player rotates, but the player can't move.

DNA_key

In Pokémon Colosseum, one area of the Cipher Lab had a combination puzzle on a keypad with nine different buttons each with a different Pokémon on them. Surprisingly, this was never removed from XD and it can be loaded in DNA_key. The model for the keypad is present, but there are missing textures and no controls for the player or the keypad are available.

Pokémon Colosseum Japanese Bonus Disc

Pokémon Colosseum infamously has the files for the Japanese Bonus Disc in all versions of its data, and it can be loaded with cheats. It functions fairly well, too. Though it doesn't seem to function completely, Pokémon XD also has the Japanese Colosseum Bonus Disc files.

ex_coupon loads the player into the center of the room, but no controls are available. The coupon clerk from Colosseum still stands behind the counter of the Mt. Battle's waiting area.

ex_shrine

In ex_shrine, once the screen for obtaining the Agate Celebi, Eagun (noticeably sporting his Colosseum model) will stand next to the Relic Stone while the player is trapped inside of it, unable to move.

A giant Japanese logo for Colosseum will rise from the ground along with some debris in a constant loop.

ex_top

There is no known way to properly access the main menu in ex_top for the Bonus Disc in XD.
