Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World

Also known as: Poochy to! Yoshi Wool World (JP) This game has unused music. |
Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World is a port of Yoshi's Woolly World and the second Yoshi game to be released on the Nintendo 3DS after Yoshi's New Island. Aside from the downgraded graphics, the game retains the gameplay and level design of the original game along with new Poochy-centric runner style levels, impressively extensive support for every amiibo under the sun (at the time at least), and the ability to design custom Yoshi patterns.

Unused Music
The game's stream directory doesn't just contain its BCSTM-format soundtrack, as every BFSTM file (+ a new looped sine wave) from the Wii U version is also included.
At 483MiB total, these unused BFSTM files comprise almost half of the game's data.
Regional Differences

Different Yarn Yoshi patterns appear depending on the region of the game. Since the Japanese Famicom/Super Famicom designs drastically differ from the North American NES/SNES consoles, these differences are reflected in the design of their respective Yoshi patterns. Since the pattern takes the same place in the menu selection, they are not obtainable separately outside of their respective regions.
Wii U Yoshi also has a Japanese variant, which just swaps the first two palettes.
European | Japanese |
---|---|
European SNES consoles were styled after the Super Famicom, and while that was reflected in the Wii U version, this port locks European players to the American design. Wonder Wool colors still match the the Japanese version however, unlike Wii U Yoshi and NES Yoshi.
On Wii U, using a Yarn Yoshi amiibo to "import" other regions' Yoshis was possible. This port still seems to write the correct regional variants to the amiibo, and still has texture sets for all of them, but only ever loads the first 3 which correspond to the US ones. The Japanese version, then, overrides them with extra copies of the Japanese variants when it detects a Japanese console.
Yoshi Names
Some Yoshi names were changed between American and European localizations.
"Wario Yoshi" from the Wii U version was renamed to differentiate it from the new Super Mario series design, despite both designs just being called Wario in Japanese.
The rest of the differences are either carried over from the Wii U or for amiibo Yoshis that weren't in that version.
