An interesting amalgamation of (pretty much) every previous game Falcom has made, Popful Mail is an action side-scrolling game with plenty of platforming. This also happens to be one of many versions Working Designs did not ruin.

Every character has a slot for a 5th weapon. (Item # 0x04)

  • All of them share the same name: ライトセーバー (Light Saber).
  • Mail's slot is complete. Her weapon is available within the game and works fine.
  • Tatto's slot has a sprite, but does nothing when used.
  • Gau's slot has a red box and crashes the game when attempting to use it.

Item 0x13
Popful Mail PC-88 i13.png The item behaves the same way as the upgraded Boomerang (ブーメランDX), but trying to display it in the equipment page will crash the game.

Item 0x23
Popful Mail PC-88 i23.png ストップウォッチ - Stop Watch. This item does nothing, even if given a timer, like ヘルメット (Helmet).

Item 0x2B
Popful Mail PC-88 i2b.png チェ~ン - Chain. Mail is the only one able to equip this. It has considerable range and even against late-game enemies, it does good damage.
