This page details prerelease information and/or media for 007: Tomorrow Never Dies.

When one takes a look at trailers, pre-release images, official strategy guide, the manual and the back of the box, there are a bunch of differences:

  • Life bar was different and in the top-right corner.
  • Box telling things was situated in the top-left corner.
  • HUD icons for gadgets were different.
  • Character dialogue appeared in a blue box with yellow text, whereas the final version just uses voices.
  • According to the strategy guide, in Mission 5 after defeating the boss, you could take the grand staircase or a small curved one. That curved staircase is not found anywhere.
  • Also according to the strategy guide, there's two fuel tanks near the enemy holding the key to the jet in Mission 2. There's only one fuel tank in the final game.

A lot of the E3 pre-release videos have poor quality video and sound because they were recorded from a tv screen by the developers testing the game.

Title Screen

Early title screen, lacking Continue option.

An early version of the start menu that had both single player and multiplayer options.

Removed Staircase

Scan from Prima’s Official Strategy Guide shows a removed curved staircase in mission 5, which doesn’t exist in the final mission. In its place is now a med kit.

Removed staircase in Hotel Atlantic.

Dialogue

The cutscene dialogue was originally intended to have both text boxes and voices. Seen on the image is a removed text box feature.

Unused Paris and Carver Models

Unused Paris and Carver models exist which where presumably intended for a scrapped party sequence in Mission 3 similar to the film. The color of the dress Paris wears is even the same one from the scene in the film.

Beta Gameplay Videos

Remember when YT had a little indifferent face when a video went down? TCRF remembers.
This page or section has one or more broken YouTube links.
Please find an archived version of the video(s) or a suitable replacement.

Removed Building in Arms Bazaar

Originally Mission 2 Arms Bazaar had an unused pyramid shaped building that you could open. E3 pre-release footage of said building being opened.

Jet Taking Off in Arms Bazaar

Seen in pre-release footage the jet in mission 2 Arms Bazaar could originally fly and take off. This is a reconstruction of how it would have originally looked like.

Early Dr. Kaufman Cinematic

The ending video after you complete the game shows an alternate earlier shot of Dr. Kaufman in mission 5. A reconstruction of this cinematic shows that the arms look a bit buggy so the developers decided to loop the second shot of him again in the first one to replace it.

Sniper HUD

E3 pre-release footage shows that the sniper HUD was also markedly different.

Bond in Market District

Beta footage showing Bond instead of Wai Lin in mission 9 Market District.

Beta Carver in Stealth Boat

E3 pre-release footage shows an early animation of Carver in mission 10 where he holds no keycard and the door and railing seem different.

Removed Machine Gun

E3 pre-release shows an removed weapon that resembles an MP5 that was cut from the final game, however the weapon is still present in the game's data.

Stealth Boat Opening

After you complete the game the ending video shows an earlier opening scene of mission 10 which featured a removed shot of Bond.

Escaping CMGN Tower in Daytime

In the beta version of the game you originally escaped mission 8 CMGN Tower at daytime instead of nighttime.

Devonshire Mission

Early pre-release gameplay footage showing the removed Devonshire mission at the 00.28 and 00.29 time marks. Only a loading screen remains in the data.
