Summer CES 1992

Nintendo showed off Battle Clash at Summer CES '92, with the version shown displaying a few key UI differences.

Title Screen

The title screen was fairly plain, outside of the graffiti-style title logo.

Script and Font Changes

The script appears to put more emphasis on the main character, Mike, in that he speaks in the first person, as opposed to talking to the player. Additionally, the script shown does not appear anywhere in the final, although Mike still mentions trying to find the ST Scarab's weakpoint.

The font used in the final is larger, and there is more spacing and kerning in the displayed text.

World Map

The early graffiti logo was displayed on the world map in pre-release, but was removed from the final, leaving a pretty noticeable empty space where it used to be. The graphics for the logo still remains in the final, and even gets loaded into memory whenever the world map is displayed.
