This page details prerelease information and/or media for Daikatana (Game Boy Color).

In the mildly comical promo video for the game, alongside the audacious claim that the world "sang the praises" of John Romero's Daikatana and some guy pronouncing the character Kage Mishima's name as "Cage", there's some gameplay footage showing an in-development build of what is most likely the unreleased American version.

The footage is in English and the main menu lacks the "Language" submenu seen in the European releases. The Japanese version, released for Nintendo Power carts, also lacks the language menu.

Two things worth noting: the obvious poor English and the two-line text box, as seen in the Japanese game. The final European releases allow for three lines of dialogue. It's vastly uninteresting to note that the final game doesn't actually use any kind of dialogue template when obtaining items: each one has its own "You got a(n) [Item]." string, so correct grammar is just handled manually by brute force.
