E3 2006 Trailer

The first trailer for the DS remake was shown off at E3 2006, with a number of differences from the final game:

• Luneth was blonde during gameplay. The fact that his hair is silver in the CGI, however, seems to suggest that the footage predates it.
• Princess Sara's design was slightly different, most notably her hairstyle.
• While the other characters use names similar to the ones they have in the final, Ingus uses totally different names except for the one in the first clip. Based on the origin of his final name, it appears that he was called "Freyr" here.
• A clip shows the party fighting Bahamut on an airship. In the final, Bahamut is fought on "Dragon's Peak" and "Bahamut's Lair", like in the original.
• The color saturation in general seems much higher in the trailer.

Fifth Party Member Slot

According to a developer interview, there were initially considerations to include a fifth party member slot in the game, reserved for guest characters such as Desch and Princess Sara. However, due to the guests in the party being occasional, it was decided to have them aid in battle randomly instead as in the original game.

Cut Scenarios

Based on the dummied-out text present in the Japanese and US versions of the game, it would appear that substantial differences were initially made to certain sections of the game before getting scaled back.
