Early Magazine Previews

These early magazine previews from SuperJuegos #38 contain alternate artwork, an alternate text crawl, and an alternate character select screen featuring the original six Rangers, indicating that the series' cast change may not have been public knowledge at this point.

For reference, the graphics of the Ecto-Morphicon and Ninja Megazord do not appear in the final.

Interestingly, at least one of the available prototypes of the game (in this case the "July 13 1995" prototype") still contains the Prerelease's alternate text crawl buried within the ROM in an alternate format, despite the text crawl having changed by this time. This is verifiable by the screenshots, and the existence of the typographical error "Chanber" instead of "Chamber".

By scanning the ROM in a hex editor for the string "R A N G E R", and generating a translation table, the full text is revealed.

Aside from the strings "PRESS START BUTTON", "PLAYER", "PLAYERS" and "OPTIONS" available in the same area of the ROM, the crawl is as follows:

"SIX THOUSAND YEARS AGO, A MORPHOLOGICAL BEING KNOWN AS IVAN OOZE RULER THE WORLD WITH A REIGN OF UNPARALLELED TERROR. A FACTION OF YOUNG WARRIORS KNOWN AS THE ORDER OF MELEDAN LURED HIM INTO A HYPERLOCK CHANBER AND BURIED HIM DEEP UNDERGROUND.

PRESENT DAY, AN INNER CITY CONSTRUCTION CREW ACCIDENTALLY UNCOVERS THE HYPERLOCK CHAMBER AND RELEASES THE EVIL POWER OF IVAN OOZE.

THE RESURRECTION OF THE TERROR ONCE SEALED.

THIS WILL BE THE TOUGHEST FIGHT THE POWER RANGERS WILL EVER FACE."
