Gameplay and Graveyard Stage

MK3 EGM 72 E3 Preview.jpg

An early preview shown in issue 72 of Electronic Gaming Monthly as part of E3 1995 featured images of the Graveyard stage that was ultimately removed from the SNES port. Additionally, the medal win icons from the SNES port of Mortal Kombat II appear at the top of the energy bars (in the final release they were replaced by yellow icons that resemble the arcade's Dragon logo and placed below the energy bars).

This preview as part of E3 1995 shows a set of nine screenshots with a few differences from the final build.

  • Sindel and Kung Lao are fighting on the Graveyard stage (it was removed from the final release).
  • In the Shang Tsung versus Kabal photo, the font for the number of hits and damage percentage below Tsung's lifebar is different in comparison to the font used in the final version.
  • In the Liu Kang versus Sektor photo, Sektor's name is misspelled as "Sector".
  • In the character select screen, Cyrax has the same fighting stance as Sektor. The font for the number "1" icon highlighting Cyrax's portrait is different (it was replaced by a big green "1" in the final release).
  • The versus screen with Kano and Sonya has a different border graphic that separates the six symbols for entering Kombat Kodes.
