This page details prerelease information and/or media for Pac-Man World (PlayStation).

Development of Pac-Man World (originally titled "Pac-Man 3-D") began shortly after the cancellation of Pac-Man Ghost Zone in mid-1997 and ended in mid-August 1999. During that time, several screenshots, videos, and playable demos of the game were published.

Development Timeline

1998

  • Circa April - screenshots are released prior to E3.
  • May 28 - the game is shown off at E3.
  • August 19 (approx.) - Sony PlayStation Autumn Winter Collection '99 Press CD.

1999

  • Circa April - more screenshots are released prior to E3.
  • April 20 - build date of the v1.0 demo.
  • Circa May - numbered build.
  • May 13 - the game is again seen at E3.
  • July 2 - the demo included with Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine Issue 25 is compiled.
  • July 6 - the v1.1 demo is compiled.
  • July 21 - the Review Build is compiled.
  • August 2 - the demo included in PlayStation Underground 3.3 is compiled.
  • August 9 - the final build is compiled.
  • October 15 - Pac-Man World is released in the US.

Dimitri Studio

In this company they worked for six months in the development of the animations for the main character and five additional characters (Blinky, Pinky, Inky, Clyde and Toc-Man). Also some concept arts and backgrounds that were included in the game.

These screenshots come from a pack of three CD-ROMS containing a variety of press releases.

  • According to designer Scott Rogers, there was a removed area called the Pac-Dot Forest. The ghosts were deforesting the dots so Pac-Man cannot use them.
