The game started development in 2014.

Concept Art

Early Development

Many pieces showing that the game was once very different. Strangely, the art is a mix of the art styles of PVZ1, PVZ2, and even PVZ Adventures.

One of the earliest pieces of concept art for the game, showing scrapped heroes, UI, and revealing the game might have used graphics from the original PvZ.
Later pieces of concept art, which reveal that art from PvZ 1 was going to be used. Additionally, it appears the heroes were going to use 3D-like renders.
