This page details pre-release information and/or media for Star Fox: Assault.

There are screenshots and three video trailers of Star Fox: Assault in early development from E3 2003-2004 uploaded by IGN, originally under three titles 'Star Fox Armada', 'Star Fox 2', and 'Star Fox'.

The versions of the game shown in the trailers have unrendered graphics, different SFX, HUD layouts, text, character designs and models for most weapons and vehicles. It was intended to be multiplayer orientated and have LAN Adapter support, with an arcade mode and co-op adventure mode, but these were scrapped.

In the earliest trailer montage from E3 2003 in Los Angeles, there are actions to 'punch' when no weapons are equipped, instead of having a Blaster as the default weapon in the game. Animations are also faster and firepower rate is higher.

The build from later E3 2003 shows the four character pilots playable, semi-finished model rendering and textures, Blaster as the default weapon, and improved HUDs.

The 2004 trailer is the closest to its final, with everything polished and graphics fully rendered. The only difference is the dialogue, font, the 'LIFE' on the health HUD, a slight difference in the game's theme song, and the working title. Presumably, Mike West, the voice of Fox in Star Fox 64, voiced Fox and narrated during these reveals, before he was replaced by Jim Walker in the final.
