Homestar Ruiner

TellTale Games' Trailer

In TellTale Games' (horribly acted) trailer for the games, not only are there a few assets that didn't make it into the final games, but there's some quite interesting early footage of Homestar Ruiner that can only be seen for a few seconds.

  • The cutscene for the box near Bubs' Concession Stand has a different camera angle. There's also an old-looking sheet of paper under it that doesn't appear in the final.
  • The Cheat does not make sounds when he's kicked into the dryer.
  • Strong Bad's reflection is not seen on the Lappy 486.
  • The Homestar Runner float has no eyes, and the trophy is miraculously floating in midair.

IGN Video 1

  • Strong Bad is heard dreaming about Super Punch-Out!!, which was replaced by Rhinofeeder in the final.
  • There are no opening credits.
  • The rug is different.
  • The box of Cheat Commandos...O's in the background is replaced with another box of Temporarios.
  • Strong Sad is already partly outside his room. In the final, he opens his door first.
  • Strong Bad does not check his e-mail.
  • The HUD is different, and does not have the camera feature.
  • The dialogue for the No Loafing sign is different.

IGN Video 2

  • Strong Bad's dialogue for when the title screen first appears is moved to when the FunMachine is first interacted with. He also starts out the dialogue with "I wonder what's plugged in to the FunMachine", whereas in the final he says "Nothing like a little snake fisticuffs to clear the mind..."
  • The menu is different. There also seems to be an instructions menu, which isn't present in the final. Notably, it resembles the PC versions.
  • There's no Videlectrix intro.
  • Strong Bad says the line "What? No, I was not just snake boxed!". In the final, he says "What? I did not just get snake boxed!"

IGN Video 3

  • The beep the phone makes is different, and it is not heard dialing the number.
  • Strong Bad does not nod when he hears his name, and does not pause after the prank call.
  • Strong Bad's line for the See Dee Spinner has the word "just" in it, which is removed in the final.
  • Coach Z's music is not present.
  • "Jane's Austentacious Chamber Music Jam" isn't heard.

IGN Video 4

  • Strong Bad is not seen typing "strongbad_email.exe" after clicking on the Lappy 486. Oddly, one of the lines he says while doing so in the final plays before the e-mail menu appears.
  • Just like in the game's reveal trailer, Strong Bad's reflection is not seen on the Lappy 486.
  • The title bar on the e-mail menu always reads "subject: email".
  • There's no garbage folder, nor is it possible to delete e-mails.
  • Interestingly, Strong Bad does not type out his response to his e-mails as he's talking, a staple of the web series.
  • The e-mail pertaining to the Total Load item is completely different.
