This page details prerelease information and/or media for Tetris: The Grand Master 3 - Terror Instinct.

Tetris: The Grand Master 3 started development for the NAOMI GD-ROM system, before moving to the Taito Type X. The backgrounds in the initial version were celestial bodies in the solar system. The grades (here called "Class") are still visible during play, like in the previous titles. The gravity meter has been moved to below the Class. Many gameplay changes between Tetris: The Grand Master 2+ and the final Tetris: The Grand Master 3, such as three previews, hold, and profiles with qualified ranks were present, although a version of Death is still present instead of Shirase, shown with number classes (likely based on level number like in Shirase) instead of just Tetris: The Grand Master 2's M and GM. World Rule was also implemented by this point.

End-of-section levels are absent, and no decorations are shown in the images. The profile name is "ARIKA-SAN", as opposed to the three-character limit in the final.

Mihara stated in the interview that a "card system" (presumably, cards that store profile data) was planned to be used in Tetris: The Grand Master 3. A card reader was to be added to the control panel via a conversion kit. This could explain the change in the length of the profile name, as long names would be too time-consuming to enter before every game; but if data is stored in the card, name entry would only be necessary when creating the data, not when "logging in".
