This page details prerelease information and/or media for The Sims 2 (Game Boy Advance).

Development Timeline

  • January - The Sims 2 GBA enters development, 2 months after The Urbz was completed.[1]
  • Apr. 19th - The Sims 2 GBA is announced as being heavy in development and scheduled to be released in autumn.[1]
  • Jul. 15th - The Sims 2 GBA was playable by the press at the EA Hot Summer Nights event.[2]
  • Oct. 4th - EA announces The Sims 2 GBA has gone gold.[3]
  • Oct. 24th - The Sims 2 GBA is released in North America.[4]
  • Nov. 4th - The Sims 2 GBA is released in Europe.

  • The changing room used to be the same as other The Sims 2 versions.
  • The mirror is fully black.
  • The player's sim was smaller.

  • Ara Fusilli had a pink tank, which she still sports in the box art.
  • The player's healthbar was much shorter, possibly meant to increase by increasing its level as indicated by the four slots on the left. No such mechanic exists in the game, but does in The Sims 2 DS.
  • The "!" box was different.

  • Ara had a different portrait.
  • The plumbob did not connect to the rest of the UI.
  • The conversation is taking place by Dusty Hogg's camper. Likely a placeholder.

  • The encounter with Burple took place in Tank Grunt's bunker, instead of the player's house.
  • His sprite is different.
  • The toilet was not radiated.

  • (1:43) - The conversation with Burple took place by Dusty's camper. Again, possibly just a placeholder, considering the inconsistency with how he was in Tank's bunker.
  • (1:52) - Ava Cadavra recycled early versions of Misty Waters' portraits.
  • (2:06) - An unknown pick-up can be seen on the ground.

Developer Interviews

  • The developers claimed the game's episodes were going to be split between 5 seasons, with a total of 24 episodes.
    Furthermore, players could trade unlocked episodes with each other through the GBA link cable.[1]
