When WWE 2K22 was first announced by 2K back in 2021.
Lots of pre-release footage and screenshots for the game was shown off.
The game did hit different indeed.

April 10, 2021
When the game was shown off in WrestleMania 37, it was very early looking. As the game is based off of WWE 2K20.
August 23, 2021
In the Release Date trailer, the game looked a lot different from the first trailer. Looking way more realistic looking.
November 18, 2021
More features in WWE 2K22 were announced, and more new arenas were shown off.
January 2022
The game is close to being finished, showing off its March 2022 release date.
