The Workboy software itself was developed by Source, in association with Fabtek and Montague-Weston. The unit was planned for release in the US during June 1992, with a UK release to follow later on. The unit would have cost $79.99, as much as the Game Boy on its own.

April 1992 (Game Zone)

It was shown in an article in the April 1992 issue of the UK Game Zone magazine.

According to the article, Source already had plans for a followup, which would have also included an actual word processor. They also said that they had been contacted by developers who wished to use the keyboard for text-based games.

May 1992 (Nintendo Power)

The Workboy unit was also showcased in the May 1992 Nintendo Power, on Pages 56-57.

Its Game Boy menu seems to list a ROM version of 5.21, which is different from the leaked ROM's ones.
