Ordering by Build

Maybe this should be ordered by build, rather than a conglomeration of different early/scrapped ideas? Although many things can't be ordered obviously, a lot of footage can.--Hiccup (talk) 07:26, 24 December 2013 (EST)

Yeah, it's just a jumble of notes right now, the final version will be ordered better. --GlitterBerri (talk) 15:30, 24 December 2013 (EST)

'Fake' Image

I case anyone was wondering, this is a Halo mod, not an OOT prerelease screenshot. --Hiccup (talk) 04:12, 4 January 2014 (EST)

Early Trailer

This trailer covers some of the beta of Ocarina of Time. What I know, is Links voice sounds much different, and stays the same as he ages. Navi also sounds different. Links tunic is also more light than usual. The font for numbers is different, and also shows the beta Master Sword and Kokiri Sword. Instead of Navi being a CC up button, she's a action button. Also, they show the B - A hud. The beam attack was shown in the trailer. Normal max rupees was 099, but doesn't show the green as max. The next max, however, is 399 as max rupees, which isn't a possible max amount in the final version --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gamers Know All (talk • contribs)

I'm sorry, but this site is for document unused content that is still in the final game's data, NOT "What Could've Been". I suggest that you either read the rules to understand, or discuss this on a Zelda-esque website. Also, please sign your posts before you start a topic, okay? --Vinny (talk) 17:29, 15 February 2014 (EST)
This user has already been informed on their talk page of the existence of an OoT prerelease page in the works. I'll move this topic to the discussion page there. --GlitterBerri (talk) 17:33, 15 February 2014 (EST)

Odd Images

I don't recognize these from anywhere (ignore the OOT3D screenshots). --Hiccup (talk) 04:54, 17 February 2014 (EST)

I don't see much different than the final game, except for Zelda's headdress...though don't completely ignore the 3DS screenshots, as they show that the touch screen design slightly changed at some point in development. WhoIAm (talk) 19:30, 22 February 2014 (EST)

Equipment screen (Space World 1997)

Do you know this picture dating from the Space World 1997 which shows the equipment screen? [1]

This image is very interesting despite its very poor quality because it shows icons of some very different items of the final version. The item at the bottom left which is blue a resemble this:

MM99Wallet.png

It is possible that the wallet was not used in Majora's Mask also existed in an earlier version of Ocarina of Time. There is a yellow two numbers to the right of the icon.

I found this picture here: [2]

--Dark Linkaël (talk) 12:32, 6 March 2014 (EST)

I had an idea a few minutes ago. By seeing the "possible" blue wallet, I deduced that it matched with the 200 rupees wallet. You just have to see that the number of rupees at the bottom of the screen is "000".
Green: 99 rupees
Blue: 200 rupees
Red: 500 rupees?
The idea seems credible enough... Besides, this “99” on the wallet seems really old. In the final version of Ocarina of Time, this thing has disappeared and there are two wallets, as in Majora's Mask. The difference is that Majora's Mask may have kept the 99 rupees wallet of Ocarina of Time in the game data.

Unused Great Fairy

I remember seeing a YouTube video of someone hacking this fairy model http://youtu.be/bt6lAG3QlSo?t=3m49s into the game. I'm certain the fairy in the video is still in the game.--Chpexo-sig.pngChpexo

Yep. :) --GlitterBerri (talk) 19:39, 7 March 2014 (EST)

E3 1998/1997 videos

There are some very interesting videos from E3 1998, which show moments of the demo of Ocarina of Time, they are very interesting!

1) There is the presence of the famous medallions (fire and ice). There is also a different angle of view of the entrance of the Temple of Time. Many other surprises for about 3 minutes.

Put video 1:20:00

2) A small visit of Kakariko Village.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=377fEyJ8lvU

Put video at 11:37

3) This is a video from E3 1997, the scenes are known, but there is the presence of a house (well visible in this video), and more details in the center of the room (Ganon Castle ?).

Put video 31:39

Amazing videos with a lot of unseen stuff! I made some screenshots of the E3 1998 footage with some small observations.

Footage 1):
  • - 1:20:07 – The already mentioned medallions in the item select screen. Just amazing to see them for the first time.
We see 6 slots which are connected to the Fairy Bow, it really seems that every medallion could be used as a stand-alone magic spell or in conjunction with the Fairy Bow forming the elemental Magic Arrows.
Item Select screen with Medallions Empty Medallion slots
  • - 1:20:33 – Link is riding on Epona alongside another Horse in Hyrule Field, a timer is shown here – I think it’s the Demo Timer running out, a small fence popping in – direction facing towards the exit to Lake Hylia
Watching further you can see that the game engine changes the model of the tree, the overall appearance reminds me a little bit of "object_wood02"
Tree Model 1 Tree Model 2
  • - 1:20:50 – Link exits Kokiri Forest and is directly taken to Hyrule Field (1:20:55)
  • - 1:20:56 – The entrance area of the castle town area with dogs running around
  • - 1:21:00 – “Downtown” – the house on the left side is higher in comparison to the final child link version, the final adult link version is still based on the building we see in this footage
Downtown Hyrule
  • - 1:21:05 – The house in the background is different, looks a little bit like an alley you could enter which is blocked in the final version of the game
House in the "Alley"
  • - 1:21:08 – the old stairway leading up to the temple of time exterior, the appearance of the temple of time itself is already looking like the final version, in earlier screenshots it looked different
  • - 1:21:15 – Link running around in Kakariko, heading to the ramp which leads up to the windmill - the first time we see the map for kakariko during this development time
  • - 1:21:07 – Inside the Deku Tree, you can hear a lot of sounds from the other demo stations in the background
  • - 1:21:40 – The exterior of the temple of time viewed from another perspective, notice the old stairway in the background and the upside down triforce above the entrance, the fence blocking the pathway to the side of the temple is already there, no gossip stones
  • - 1:21:44 – the ring around death mountain doesn’t move, the mountain itself looks different and the upside down triforce again, just like in the older concept artwork and earlier screenshots of the interior.
Was it just a simple design choice or was there a deeper meaning behind it? It's really interesting.
Temple of Time exterior - different perspective Upside Down Triforce
  • - 1:21:51 – Inside the temple of time, with the upside down triforce in the background but with the final warp pedestral and door of time
  • - 1:22:06 – Link fighting against Phantom Ganon with the Zora Tunic
  • - 1:22:25 – Link opens a chest which contains a heart piece in dodongo’s cavern, located in the main room
  • - 1:22:38 – the empty slots of the magic medallions in the items select screen

Footage 2):
The doors in Kakariko described in the 1998 CBS Toy Test report which were recently found within "ovl_En_Door" can be seen in the second footage. They are slightly opened but close when Link approaches them.
If my memory is right, the footage is the first time we see the older onscreen map for Kakariko.
There is something interesting about it. In the other prerelease screenshots and footages of Kakariko from earlier screenshots the well in front of the wind mill is not visible.
If you look at the map you can see a clear point to the right side of the house where the potion shop is in the final version, which could possible mark a different location for the well.
It's important to notice that Links position in the village doesn't align with the arrow marker on the map, so what we see here is likely from an earlier point of development.
The same problem can be observed in prerelease shots of Zoras Domain.
Kakariko door and map

Footage 3):
Inside Ganons Tower we can see a box in the center of the room - it looks like a placeholder similar to "En_A_Obj"

Ocarina Patent

There's a mention here of a patent relating to Link reading sheet music off of the sign. This might be related to the original plot point in the overdump of Link being taught how to read "ancient sheet music" by Zelda after she flees, and then using this to learn the Prelude of Light to open the Temple of Time. The music is engraved on a sign outside the temple itself. Antheraea (talk) 00:28, 4 February 2024 (UTC)
