Story Puzzles
From the lt6_en.fa/nazo/anm directory and arranged in the order the original puzzles go in.
#012- Squirrel Snacks
To do: Maybe make a mockup of how the animations would have looked? |
These sprites of Hazel and her squirrel friend running are nestled amongst the rest (and have been organized for easy viewing). One possibility is that on the puzzle's success screen, they would have eaten their fruit and then ran off instead of just having an endless loop of them nibbling away. Something interesting to note as well is that both of their heads in the fourth frame lack shading.
#014- Blooming Flowers, #046- Blooming Flowers 2, and #159- Blooming Flowers 3
A butterfly that would likely have flown around on the screen once the puzzle had been solved and/or the player began adding flowers while solving.
#020- Boat to Boat and #060- Boat to Boat 2
A backwards-facing sprite of Layton, which probably would have been used in his boat-jumping animation.
#021- Fishing Friends
To do: Find a way to animate it without the program screwing it up and removing the shadow from under his feet. |
A sprite of Puzzle Lad 5. The puzzle's description mentions the three fishers being watched by a 'keen-eyed fisherman', which he was very likely supposed to be. This is further supported by the large space between Puzzle Lad 2 and 4 on the dock, where Puzzle Lad 5 would probably stand. A mockup of his assembled sprite from the parts has been made.

#026- Copy Cats and #114- Copy Cats 2
Buttons with cat symbols are stored with the bottom-screen arrow buttons (for movement). One theory is that they were originally going to be used for resetting the position of the cats in the puzzle, but due to the pre-existing 'Reset' button paired alongside other functions like 'Undo' and 'Memo', it ended up not being needed. Interestingly, the illustration matches the one in the middle of the used bottom-screen background.
#043- A String of Jewels and #135- A String of Jewels 2
2D sprites of the top screen graphics both while the player is solving the puzzle and once they've correctly answered it. The final version of the puzzle uses 3D models for the characters, although it does keep a 2D texture background, but the final graphics for that still differs in quality and shape compared to the ones here.
#047- Fowl Food
A blue bird meant to appear alongside the red one.
#054- A Trio of Trouble
Sprites of some of the Puzzle Lads and Lasses looking surprised, as well as lines that- based on where they're placed on the sheet- would presumably go over the hidden triplet's head. These were probably going to be used for the success screen, when the aforementioned hidden triplet revealed himself.
Daily Puzzles
From the lt6_b.fa/nkl/cmn directory and arranged in the order the original Daily Puzzles go in.
Formula for Success
d01_adjacent01_b.xi, d01_adjacent02_b.xi, and d01_adjacent03_b.xi in img are placeholder Touch Screens.
Verdant Springs
d03_jump01_a.xi and d03_jump02_a.xi in img are more placeholders, but for the top screen.
An Oeuf is not Enough
img/d10_snake01_a.xi is...another placeholder top screen.
Primordial Gloop
img/d08_timber01_a.xi continues the trend.
Chairo Obscuro
anm/d04_square01_ani_spr.xa is a placeholder very similar to Formula for Success's, with a lovely shade of pink.
