Ace Attorney, like many successful franchises, was shamelessly ripped off many times. While Lifesigns and its Japan-only prequel replaced the trial sequences with awkward surgical sequences, Project Hacker had instead actually good program hacking minigame sequences.

Like countless other excellent visual novels though, notably from Chunsoft, this game wasn't exported outside Japan.

Debug Menu

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: How to get the Debug Menu and other debug related content to work

There are many, many "scr" files related to the debugging process present in the ROM. Judging from their filenames, some seem to be related to debugging various chapters, while others seem to be related to testing minigames. One file is even labeled test.scr.

There is notably a file named debugMenu.scr, which seems to contain options called "Load Game", "New Game", "Omake" (Bonus Content), "Select Debug Chapter", "CR Debug Mode". The other options seems to be a chapter select of sorts, and more save file management options.
