This is a sub-page of Proto:Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage.
This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.
The February 1, 2001 build of Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage is a debug build compiled a day just before the final American build.
General Differences
- The splash screens are faster, only lasting for a few frames. Two of them have compile information on them.
- A few cheat codes have altered effects. "!cheater" and "!bingo" can be entered multiple times, and "!version" does not toggle a display of the player coordinates on the map.
- Two digits displaying the game's frame rate are present at the bottom right of the screen.
Debug Features
- During the title screen:
- Start Game: Skips the name entry and the opening cinematic.
- Intermediate Game: As above, start in Erromon.
- During cutscenes:
- B: Skips the cutscene. Also skips any changes to the inventory or a party.
- Start: Camera menu - Allows to change focus and position of the camera. May cause crashing if the option doesn't change position.
- Outside of a combat:
- L+Start: A big debug menu displays.
- L+DpadL: Loads less map chunks at a time.
- R+DpadR: Replaces map objects with intangible boulders.
- R+Start: Toggles the debug message queue.
- Z+Start: A smaller debug menu displays.
- C-UP: Cycles performance statistics, including RAM/CPU usage, player coordinates, current ground type, and tints character models at certain intervals.
- R+B: Toggles full minimap when applicable.
- During a combat:
- L+Z+B+A: Automatically makes you end and win a combat.
- L+Z+B+Start: Ends an enemy's turn.
- When a smaller debug menu is displayed:
- Teleport: Takes you to some select locations.
- Actor: Changes player into guard or very fast chicken.
- Combat: Shuffled battle encounter - generates an assortment of combatants in a random stage.
- Combat Arena Random Test: Above, but select the stage.
- Combat Arena Enemy Test: 1v1 an enemy in a selected stage.
- When a big debug menu is displayed: Many functions are dummied out, except for those listed below:
- All Game states: Views and changes every event flag
- Game state cheats: Toggles the states for certain or all game objects.
- Add Party Members: Adds a member to your party.
- Clear everything out of Inventory: Removes all items not equipped on your party.
- Load only the inventory from a saved game: Displays credits over gameplay instead.
- Toggle game settings: Toggles switches, which do not seem to be implemented.
- Toggle monster attack: Monsters will not initiate combat.
- Turn off everything but teleporters: Disables all game objects that don't move the player.
- Access database: Menu with every item in the game. Pressing A adds that item to your inventory.
- Hunt for bad reference objects: Teleports the player every few seconds to each of the objects on the current map. With debug messages on, it displays the object type and its position. Enemies will not fight you while this happens.
- When the game crashes:
- A: Cycle info screens.
- Up/Down/Left/Right: Seek through Heap Walk.
