This is a sub-page of Proto:Crash Bandicoot: Warped.

The Japanese Store Demo (also known as クラッシュバンディクー3 ブッとび! 世界一周 店頭用体験版, Crash Bandicoot 3: Buttobi! Sekai Isshuu Tentou-you Taikenban and クラッシュバンディクー3 ブッとび! 世界一周 無料レンタル版, Crash Bandicoot 3: Buttobi! Sekai Isshuu Muryou Rental-ban) of Crash Bandicoot: Warped is a demo version of the game available at Japanese retail stores. Only the first warp room is available, and you cannot save any progress. The modification date of the files suggests that this demo is dated around October 21st, 1998, a month before the final NTSC-J release version.

General Differences

  • There are a couple of changes that have been made due to this being a demo version. These include:
    • All Super Powers are unlocked by default.
    • A notice flashes at the top of screen while you are in a level: このソフトは かいはつちょうです (This software is under development).
    • Since the save feature is disabled for demo purposes, the load/save screen consequently doesn't have the "LOAD/SAVE" text imprinted on it.
    • Aku Aku does not appear to congratulate the player after defeating Tiny Tiger.
  • The game starts with a warning screen informing that the software is under development and only 5 levels are available.
  • Crash does not show up in the title screen.
  • The attract mode demos have been rerecorded. Toad Village and Under Pressure share the same inputs as the NTSC-U version, while the other levels features unique gameplay that does not match the final NTSC-J release.
    • The music still does not play in the attract demo of Tiny Tiger boss fight.
  • Crash's icon in the level stats is the same as the international versions, rather than a higher-res version of the extra life icon.
  • Relic times are still the same as the NTSC-U version.
Demo Final
  • Crash plays the Japanese hurt voice, which was only used in the NTSC-J release of the first game. It was switched back to the international sound in the final game.
  • Tiny's pupils are still small during the intermission vortex cutscenes.

Level Differences

Tiny Tiger

Rather than the usual tutorial text when picking up the Super Charged Body Slam, it features a custom message made specifically for the demo, telling the player that they reached the end of the demo.
