Careful, you'll lose an eye.
This page or section needs more images.
There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this.
So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.

A prototype of Crazy Taxi: Catch A Ride was released on January 1, 2022 by Hidden Palace as part of their huge New Years 2022 release.

General Differences

  • The prototype contains the European language select, but lacks the Italian language option.
  • There's a different autodemo featuring different music, locations, and cars. It also lacks the "DEMO" text.
  • The text in the Crazy Box menu is laid out slightly differently, resulting in some text running off the side of the screen.
  • Loading screens simply cut to a black screen for a while instead.
  • A large black bar covers part of the top of the screen during gameplay, save for the HUD.
  • The pause menu contains an "ENGINE" menu which allows you to modify the draw distance and screen position. The latter allows the player to remove the aforementioned black HUD border by switching the "BORDERS" option to "FULL SCREEN".
  • Some of the Crazy Box locations are different.

Graphical Differences

  • The legal screen appears to be a placeholder screen.
  • The Graphic State logo screen uses different animation and slightly narrower text.
  • The menu font appears to be different from the final.
  • The menu option for "CRAZY TAXI" instead says "SINGLE PLAYER".
  • When choosing a city, the pictures of each city are placeholder images, with the main photos simply displaying the text "City 1" and "City 2".
  • The in-game HUD text is shaded slightly differently.
  • Some of the passengers in a few of the Crazy Box missions have a different colored dollar symbol above their heads.
  • Some in-game sprites, such as the balloon explosion effects in Crazy Box, look a bit different.
