This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
This is a sub-page of Proto:Deja Vu (NES).
This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.
This prototype is dated April 28, 1990 and while translated, was still going through the localization process, with many of the changed elements from the Japanese version still present.
General Differences
To do: Graphical differences. |
- On the Kemco Presents screens lack of the copyright and licensing information and the earlier copyright year on the title screen match the Japanese version..

- The "Save?" text on the save-game screen (retaining the scotch glass) is still in Japanese, but would later be translated by the next prototype:
- The save options (Continue, Exit, and New Game) are still in Japanese:
- Pressing Select propmts a message asking you to select your speed (likely for debugging purposes, or to see which speed would work the best with text scrolling), absent after the May 15 proto:
- Instead of gum, the coat pocket has a cigarette in it. This wasn't changed to gum until the final prototype:
- The corpse in the office is still covered in blood. The wording that tells you that there is a corpse is also slightly different:

- This prototype uses the Japanese casino graphics, and it seems to be the only one to do so (Note that the text says "you,re" in the prototype instead of "you're", which seems to be the case for every instance.):

- Japan's Game Over screen is still used here:

- The capsules are still referred to as a syringe
- There is still a reference to an electric chair:
Proto | Final |
---|---|
IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE AN ELECTRIC CHAIR, BUT IT HAS NO POWER SUPPLY LEADING TO IT. |
IT LOOKS LIKE AN UNUSUAL CHAIR. IT HAS RESTRAINTS FOR THE ARMS AND HEAD. PERHAPS IT'S A DENTIST'S CHAIR. |
