Debug Menu
A debug menu can be accessed in the game by holding L2 and then pressing R3. It includes the following options:
- Room Jump
- Flag Edit
- DEBUG OPTION
- Player Warp
- SHOOTING MODE
Room Jump
This feature allows players to pick any level they want up to Dr Ion's boss fight, as the rest of the levels are missing from the prototype.
STAGE: Self explanatory, the stage of the game you want to visit.
- Stage 0: Item shop island, casino, fighting ring/little devil arenas, cutscene interiors, test interiors, etc
- Stage 1: Wild west village
- Stage 2: Burning/Abandoned village
- Stage 3: Circus
- Stage 4: Kilo-Crab
ROOM: Room is the way the game calls each area within a stage. Worth noting that the order of the rooms is different from the order you play them. For example Stage 1 Room 1 is "Stage 1-5: Sneak into Elvis's Crib!".
POINT: It's the spawn point that will be used in a room. Although most levels only have 1 spawn point, some have 2 or 3 as they are used for checkpoints. Some spawn you out of bounds.
Flag Edit
This menu features 139 flags created for testing purposes, which can be enabled or disabled. It includes a collision viewer, hitbox viewer, first person mode, disable background music, etc.
DEBUG OPTION
This menu includes basic flags such as infinite health, 1 hit kill, max gold, unlock all moves, etc. It's the typical stuff that would be enabled by cheat codes.
Player Warp
This menu allows the player to move Gene to any position of the room, also working as a free camera. Two X/Y/Z axis will be visible, one will show where the camera is looking at, the other will always be on Gene's position. It's worth mentioning that God Hand uses the Y axis for height instead of the Z axis.
The controls are:
- D-Pad: Move the camera focused position X/Z axis.
- L3: Lower the camera focused position Y axis.
- R3: Rise the camera focused position Y axis.
- Left analog: Rotate the camera focused position around the camera itself.
- Right analog: Rotate the camera around the camera focused position.
- L1: Zoom out
- R1: Zoom in
- R2: The game has trouble updating Gene's position to match with the one where the camera is looking at, if it's in mid air or out of bounds. Pressing/Holding R2 will force the game to bring Gene to that place.
- Square: Hold to move faster
- X: Exit player warp mode
SHOOTING MODE
It has similar options to "DEBUG OPTION" and, although based on its name it could have been used for promotional shots, its purpose is unknown. It features options to turn the player, enemies and other things invisible, disable the HUD, disable collision and infinite health, among other things. For some reason it's the only menu that shows the game in the background instead of being all black.
Early Audio
Background Music
Gene's Rock-A-Bye (Stage 1 theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | elvis_a_mix_ver6lofi | |
Final | ELVIS_A_MIX_Ver7 |
- Except for a small sound at 0:27 and 1:54, they are identical.
- The name of the file suggests that this was a "lo-fi" version of the stage 1 track.
- This could mean that the more upbeat version of the song (when the God Hand is activated) was the original track for stage 1.
Broncobuster (God Hand Activation Theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | elvis_a_mix_ver1 | |
Final | GodHand_KAIHOU |
- The lead guitar is different for the most part.
- At 0:09 and 1:24 it sounds like 2 drums are overlapping, while in the final version it only happens at 1:24.
- The name of the file suggests that this was possibly the original track for stage 1 before it was turned into the God Hand activation theme.
Sweet Nightmare (Mr Gold & Mr Silver Boss Theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | boss1_goldsilver_ver3 | |
Final | Boss1_GoldSilver_Ver4 |
- There's an echo effect through the whole song.
- The intro is different as there are fireworks instead of saxophones.
- There's a synth that can be heard on the right channel at some points.
- Extra percussion can be barely heard in the background.
- There's additional clapping in some sections of the song.
- Some parts use a different drum beat.
- At some point people can be heard cheering.
- The outro is shorter.
It's a Smile World (Stage 3 Theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | circus_a_mix_ver1 | |
Final | Stage3_Park_Ver4 |
- The only song in the prototype that was removed instead of being reworked for the final version.
- It can be speculated that it was completely changed because:
- It doesn't fit the the circus theme of stage 3.
- It sounds similar to the music used in stage 1, making it redundant.
- Although "circus_a_mix_ver2" can be found in all versions of the game (used in stage 2 and called "Too Hot!!!"), it's a completely different song compared to "ver1".
Floating Fort (Stage 4 theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | 04yousai_a_mix_ver3 | |
Final | Stage4_YOUSAI_Ver4 |
- The outro is longer.
The Gang of Venice (Stage 5 Theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | Stage5_Venezia_Ver5 | |
Final | Stage5_Venezia_Ver6 |
- A scratch sound can be heard at 0:05, most likely produced by a guitar.
- The outro is barely longer, featuring the same scratch sound again.
Unnavigable Sea (Stage 5-4 Theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | RUINS_A_MIX_VER2 | |
Final | Stage5_Ship_Ver3 |
- The outro is longer.
- The name of the file suggests that it was originally going to be used for a ruins level, possibly stage 7.
Forgotten Song (Stage 7 theme)
Version | File Name | Audio |
---|---|---|
Prototype | Stage7_Desert_Ver1 | |
Final | Stage7_Desert_Ver2 |
- The intro is longer, building up slower.
- The outro is shorter.

- There are 4 extra transparent crystals on the sides, smaller in size.
- The moai has no facial expressions when hit or when hiding under the ground.
Book Woman
In the level "Sneak into Elvis's Crib!" there's a statue of Elvis holding a book. Hitting it repeatedly will reveal a picture of a woman, which has a more revealing design in the prototype.
Prototype | Final |
---|---|
- The picture is less censored as the "LOVE" text is smaller.
- The woman's haircut is different.
- The background has details instead of being a blank wall.
Pause Menu Olivia Pictures
Olivia artwork can be found in the pause menu by pressing L1 or R1, however, in the prototype they are 3D renders. Only 3 of them can be found and they are most likely early sketches meant to be traced over later.
