This is a sub-page of Proto:Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec.

Unlike the Store Demo Volume 2, the Volume 1 Store Demo is based on an early build of the game. Being compiled on October 10, 2000, it is one of the earliest playable demos known to exist under the GT3 name, with only the Netz and Autobacs demos dating back before this one- and not by much. Much like Volume 2, this demo was playable in game shops in Japan around late 2000 and early 2001.

Gameplay

  • The player is able to view various different car models on the menu, but are only able to race with two: the Honda Raybrig NSX and the Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34). From there, the player has two tracks to choose from: Trial Mountain and Super Speedway. The races in the demo are two laps with a 200 second time limit.

General Differences

  • This is the only demo that locks off cars in the menu, something common in demos of earlier GT games (due to those demos using a modified version of the normal game's UI), but rather pointless here, as the UI in the GT3 demos typically only shows cars that the player was intended to drive, so showing cars in this menu only to have them locked seems like a headscratcher as to why Polyphony put them on the menu in the first place if the player can't drive them.
  • The time limit of this demo is 200 seconds (3 min 20 sec), the most of any GT3 demo, and as a result, the timer will very rarely expire before the finish of a race in this demo.
