This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

Early Prototype

Hmmm...
To do:
There's more differences in this prototype, including text differences and more graphical differences.

An early prototype of Nuclear Strike 64 was released by Forest of Illusion on July 25, 2022.

General Differences

  • The copyright and licensing and the EXPANSION PAK ENHANCED splash screens are skipped.
  • The splash screens don't fade to black before switching. Instead, they just switch by cutting.
  • Every level is unlocked by default.
  • It takes a shorter time to go from the title screen to the main menu without pressing Start in the prototype.
  • There's no music in the prototype.

Graphical Differences

Proto Final

The title screen appears to be very different from the final version.

Proto Final

The Rumble Pak screen is more simple in the prototype, and the message is different. The purple box is also missing, and the text also uses a different font.

  • The text of the description of a level in the mission briefing screen is a bit smaller, and the name of the mission above the description of the level uses a different font.
  • The television that displays images in the main menu are different in pattern, and includes some images that aren't displayed in the final version.
  • The buttons are just simple letters in the prototype, likely a placeholder.

November 17, 1999 Prototype

Hmmm...
To do:
Provide a patch for it to work on emulators.

A German PAL prototype of Nuclear Strike 64 was released on February 14, 2021 by Forest of Illusion.

Differences

  • The guy's face seen in the small screen at the bottom seems to be more clear in the prototype.
