Old Loading Screen

  • The loading screen in this build is very different and was likely only used as a placeholder.
  • The text ("Preview Build") is next to the octopus in the early loading screen.
  • In the prototype build after this one (May 7th 2013 Build) the loading screen is the same but uses different colors, though this change is reverted in the June 18th 2013 Build.

Level Differences

Gervason's Grocery

ODCMarch2013-GervasonsGroceryIntro.png

  • The level has a cutscene at the start that shows the different parts of the grocery store.
  • During the cutscene Gervason's Chapter Heading is displayed.

ODCMarch2013-MissingDoors.png

  • There are no doors at the start of the level.
  • The level uses a different more realistic skybox.
  • There's a woman at the start of the level, her model is a retextured Scarlet. (Same as the cereal shopper)

ODCMarch2013-CerealLady.png

  • The cereal shopper has no animation for taking the cereal so it flies into her shopping cart instead.
  • The cereal shopper says "What are you doing?" if Octodad gets close.
  • The kids have their Octodad 1 models even though they have the new models in the House level.

ODCMarch2013-Milk.png

  • There are only blue milk jugs except for the chocolate milk jug and singular milk carton.

ODCMarch2013-MoviePlaceholder.png

  • The movies have placeholder textures.
Early Chef Chase Final Chef Chase
ODCMarch2013-ChefChaseGervasons.png ODC-ChefChaseGervasons.png
  • The boxes in the chef chase are using a placeholder model.
  • Chef Fujimoto's Octodad (2010) model is used as a placeholder.

Home Sweet Home

ODCMarch2013-HomeSweetHomeIntro.png

  • The level has a cutscene at the start that shows the alarm clock.
  • The kids are never inside the house and spawn outside instead.
  • Octodad's room has no exterior.
  • After Octodad has made his coffee scarlet asks him to open the package that was delivered.
  • There is no milk task.

ODCMarch2013-Package.png

  • The package has to be opened using scissors that spawn in a random location in the dining room.
  • The package contains four aquarium tickets.
  • Octodad doesn't need to pick up the tickets after opening the package.
  • Scarlet never goes outside.
  • Scarlet has no talking animation and continues to hold out her hand after Octodad has taken his coffee.
  • The grill has no sound effects.

ODCMarch2013-RakeAndGnomes.png

  • The gnomes are propped up instead of standing on the ground.
  • There is a rake outside.
  • Scarlet doesn't complain when Octodad steps on her flowers.
  • Stacy doesn't say anything about the bird house falling down.
  • Gnomes only need to be hit once for them to fall.
  • There is no cutscene after Octodad beats Chef Fujimoto.

Wedding Bells

ODCMarch2013-WeddingBellsIntro.png

  • The intro cutscene doesn't include Scarlet complaining about Octodad being late and there is no man at the beginning telling Octodad that he's late.
  • Scarlet doesn't talk at all.
  • The music doesn't change when Scarlet receives her ring.
  • There are no people in the wedding except for Scarlet and Octodad (if you consider Octodad a person).
  • The intro doesn't use the same music as the final release.
  • Octodad is wearing his normal suit at the start.

ODCMarch2013-WBTie1.png

  • The first tie is attached to the door at the beginning, it uses the Basic (Beta) texture.

ODCMarch2013-TieCake.png

  • There is another tie under the cake (there is a tie under the cake in the final release), the difference is that it uses the Basic (Beta) texture.

ODCMarch2013-PianoTie.png

  • The last tie in this level is over the piano, it uses the Basic (Beta) texture.
  • The piano tie from the final release is also at this location.
  • The bowtie mission is "Put on bowtie at hall mirror", but you can put on the bowtie anywhere.

ODCMarch2013-WeddingBellsOutside.png

  • The window that has the bowtie attached to it has no bars behind it so you can walk outside.
  • The outside area has camera so this area being accesible was intended.
  • The bars were added later likely due to playtesters walking outside thinking that's where they're supposed to go.

Tie Textures

  • This build has 2 tie textures, one of.... team member Phil.. and a beta version of the red tie we all know and love!
