Proto:Persona 5/December 4th, 2015/Videos
This is a sub-page of Proto:Persona 5/December 4th, 2015.
To do: - Add unused or changed cutscenes, specifically cutscenes present in this build but not in the others, or cutscenes that change in future builds - Table formatting |
All items on this page are pre-rendered video files found within the game's /data.cpk/movie archive
(in later builds this changes to /ps3.cpk/movie
). Videos included here are divided into unused (i.e. removed from future builds and/or the final game), or have differences in this build to future versions.
Contents
Unused videos
This build contains prerendered video not present in the February or March builds, or in the final game.
mov200.usm
A completely unused cutscene that was meant to be animated, is presented here in a rough storyboard version. This likely would've been how the player was introduced to the Fusion system with Satan(?) & Angel being executed in front of the protagonist. The song used here is an early version of "All Of the Full Moon" from the Persona 3 Movies.
mov201.usm
A test of the warp effect transitions.
mov202.usm
A video presumably coming before Madarame's televised confession, showing an early version of Shibuya with some different billboard textures. This video file exists in all known prototype builds, but not the final game, although a similar shot is present.
mov307.usm
An FMV of the metaverse app activating. This is seen when Ryuji first triggers it to enter Kamoshida's Palace. It's only used for the real-time version of the scene as in the final, the scene itself is pre-rendered.
mov508.usm
A video of Madarame's televised confession - presumably this would come after or be used in the same sequence as mov202.usm. The file is present in all known prototype builds of Persona 5 but is not included in the final game.
mov602.usm
Similar to mov201.usm - a test of the game or debug tool's warp effects - but this time transitioning to a palace.
Changed videos
mov000.usm
See Proto:Persona 5/December 4th, 2015/Audio for information on changes to the opening cinematic.
End credits
Unlike the full game which uses one complete video file, this prototype has the pre and post-credits anime scenes in separate video files (mov028.usm and mov030.usm respectively). In the middle is mov045.usm, which uses the Persona 4 unused credits with more finalized portraits and a full version of an unfinished Hoshi To Bokura To.

In this prototype, there are two versions of the video that shows Shido's subordinate screaming during the flashback to Joker's arrest. mov100.usm matches the retail version, but mov100.usm_jimaku is an early version of this video that only shows the screaming woman. The scene looks to have been redrawn, as some of the character details and coloring is different.

December 2015 | Final |
---|---|
This is the cutscene that plays the first time that Joker and Ryuji go into the Metaverse. The December 2015 version has an overlay and shows an earlier version of the castle with a building present on the right-hand side of the shot.
mov102.usm
Two cuts of the same camera shot, one before the Phantom Thieves disappear, then one after. Missing the red hue that would be added in the February build.

This cutscene plays in the build-up to fighting Shido's shadow. The prototype video has a bluer hue to it and includes a borked frame towards the end of it. Interestingly, the retail version of the scene includes a different scene at the end of it too.

The "True Rebels" video received a different version in each of the prototype builds, but none is more different than the version for the December 2015 prototype:
- The video starts with a shot of the Phantom Thieves, with the date and surrounding borders visible
- Yuuki Mishima is shown cheering in the crowd
- There's a notable amount of faceless/featureless pedestrians in the crowd, lots more than other versions of the video.
- Pedestrians with faces lack the shadowing or details of their future counterparts
- Crowds have little to no animation. Some pedestrians that do have animations have jarring looped animations (e.g. the jumping girl at 0:17)
- Time seems to slow down towards the end of the video
- The poll counter starts a lot earlier (99.6% rather than 61.5%) and moves in from a different position and at a different speed
- There's a lack of the red hue and the rain found in the final video

December 2015 | Final |

This video is the final part of Okumura's press conference on October 11th. Differences include different models and textures for Okumura and the surrounding environment, different and more expressive NPCs, a change in the end screen and message, and a lack of black ooze from Okumura before his demise.

This video is part of Shido's confession. Similar to the retail version, the prototype one has Shido talking with men cheering by their side (albeit in a loop), whereas the retail one looks a lot more polished, has camera flashes, and includes a second cut of Shido's bodyguards appearing alert.

This video is almost identical to the one found in future builds (including the final game), except that the app icons and phone UI have a slightly different design.
