Karnak Intro

Prototype

Karnak is an ancient Egyptian sanctuary, built by many pharaohs since the 12th dynasty.
There, Egyptians worshiped their many gods.
Main god worshiped in the Complex of Karnak was Amon, the king of the gods and 'that which is hidden'.

The Karnak Temple Complex consists of four parts: The First Pylon, Amon Complex, The Sacred Lake and Main Temple of Amon-Rae.

We have now entered The First Pylon.
In order to get into the Amon Complex, you have to find a golden statue of Amon located in the Shrine of Amon.
Inserting the statue in a slot on an altar in the atrium will open the gates to the complex.

Final
Thebes is an ancient Egyptian sanctuary, built by many pharaohs since the 12th dynasty.
After it was built, only the religious lived there.
The main god worshipped in Thebes was Amon, the king of the gods and 'that which is hidden'.
He originally represented the forces of generation and reproduction.

Thebes consists of two parts: Karnak and Luxor.

We have now entered Karnak.


The intro description for Karnak Demo underwent a major rewrite between Test 1 and the final version. The Test 1 text hints that there were supposed to be four parts in Karnak; The First Pylon, Amon Complex, The Sacred Lake and the Main Temple of Amon-Rae. Instead, it was shortened to one part. The level list discussed later in the page confirms this.

Sphinx statues

Hmmm, these two guardian sphinxes are very heavy. Even you can`t move them by your strenght.
 
Still, they are positioned on some kind of tracks and certainly look movable. There must be some mechanism which will move them if activated. 

I advice you to look in the nearby yard with Shrine of Thoth in it, to the north from here.

The second sentence has “by” replaced with “with”, and strength was misspelled in Test 1.

The final sentence has been reworded entirely, but still keeps the same idea.

Key Under Arachnoid

Beware of the Arachnoid.
It is asleep now, but Arachnoids are not known for sleeping very firmly.
It might wake up any second.
Seems like it is guarding the gold Ankh key laying beneath this beast.

You must somehow collect the key to exit this spooky situation.

To unlock this door and exit the shrine, you need gold Ankh key. Pick it up from the center of the shrine.

It is very quiet and I do not like it. I suspect an ambush.

You are very well supplied with ammo, and your health is quite solid. This should not be a problem for you. Still, be careful. I smell lot of bastardz.

An “a” was added to “lot”, albeit incorrectly as "alot" is not correct; it should be "a lot", and the description for the enemies in the last fight goes from sounding like a bad 90s garage band in Test 1 to generic bastards in the final.
