Story

Creed's Basement

Deep below Creed's mansion, and thankfully above the lava below said mansion, Creed chants in front of a large altar-like structure.

April Script Evil spirit, come.

Final Script Evil Spirit, come.

Translation Notes
In the final script, "Evil Spirit" is the name of the entity that Creed talks to. In the April script, though, "evil spirit" is just a descriptor for the creature, not a name.

April Script Hey, the evil spirit is appearing!

A giant, golden-eyed blue head with bushy eyebrows appears above the altar.

April Script Thank you, spirit.

Final Script Ahhh....

Evil Spirit asks what Creed wants, exactly. It's Zeon.

The first mention of the three devil kings was removed from later scripts.

April Script Zeon? The king of the three devil kings?

Evil Spirit concentrates hard, channeling his mind into the nature of all things.

Peter mentions that Bowie has the Jewel of Evil.

Creed, believing he can remove the jewel, approaches Bowie, only to be greeted by a blinding light from the second jewel.

April Script The other one is... they called it, the Jewel of Light.

April Script [Hero], do you have both of the legendaryjewels? We can't remove them. The chain is made of Mithril. Show them to him. They will help him.

Evil Spirit tries again, bathing the entire area in sepia tones. He imparts to Creed that Arc Valley was reopened, Zeon was revived, and Zeon's devils are coming from the sky.

April Script They're very quick! Where are they going to?

Final Script Hmmm.... Where are they heading?

North Parmecia, the spirit says.

April Script Something happened to Mitula...

Evil Spirit can't actually see Zeon, as he's still in Arc Valley, gathering strength.

April Script But, he has already done a lot of mischief on the ground... What were they?

April Script He is not perfect yet. His power....

Evil Spirit's speech slows down as his image flickers out and is replaced with a demonic head. More demonic.

April Script I'm Zeon! I'm the true king of the devils!

April Script Who is contacting me... do you want to die? Ggggooo....I see a jewel, the Jewel of Evil!

April Script He's seeing this side through the Evil Spirit!

Final Script He's seeing us through the eyes of Evil Spirit!

Zeon tells Bowie to bring the Jewel of Evil to Arc Valley.

April Script Why do we have to obey you?!

Final Script Why should we?!

Zeon promises to exchanges Princess Elis for the Jewel of Evil. And, after giving out his order...

April Script The Evil Spirit exploded! That's Zeon's power, but he's not perfect yet. If he revives fully, his power will be awfully strong!

April Script Creed, how reliable was he, I mean, the Evil Spirit?

April Script His information is reliable. Why does he want the jewel? I have no means to know that now, without Spirit....

Final Script Very. Why does Zeon want the jewel? No more questions... ...without Evil Spirit....

A dejected Creed exits the area, the force following quickly behind.

Creed's Mansion

Bowie talks to Creed again before leaving.

April Script Maybe The Evil Jewel has a secret. Storytellers in Tristan might know something. Tristan is in North Parmecia.

Okay, now he can leave...oh, right, the Fairy.

April Script Oh, is the Dwarf sick? Really? OK, I think I can help him. Show me to his place.

The fairy tags along with the force. Now it's really time to leave...oh wait, the servant is here with the four important people from the Desktop Kingdom / Floor World. Only one of them can join the force. The choices are Eric, Randolf...

April Script Hee, hee...I'm not only only a dizzy dwarf, I'm [Randolf], know as the strongest warrior in the force.

If the force chooses to pass on Karna...

...but why would they do that? It's Karna. The choice is always Karna. NOW it's time to leave...without Oddler, who decides to stay with Creed, though even he isn't sure why.

April Script I was very happy to be with you [Hero].

Final Script It was great travelling with you [Hero].

April Script [Hero], you'll learn the truth of this farewell soon. You don't have to think about it now. Go to the north.

Dwarven Mine

Before heading back to New Granseal, Bowie and the fairy visit the dwarven mine to see the sick dwarf.

April Script Oh, hello there. Glad to see you.

Final Script Oh, thank goodness. I sure am glad to see you.

April Script Ok, let me try.

Final Script Ok, let's see.

The fairy casts a healing spell on the dwarf.

April Script Hey...how is he?

The sick dwarf rises!

April Script Huh...?

The dwarves ask the fairy how they can repay her.

The fairy's wishes did a 180 in the final script. The double space after "I'm" was never corrected in any revision.

April Script [Hero], I'm  going now. I hope your journey is safe and eventful. Bye!

Finally coming back to town, Bowie and the rest of the force receive a hero's welcome. Well, one guard welcomes them, anyway.

April Script Welcome back, [Hero]! I heard your journey was very hard.

The soldiers asks the force to come to the castle.

New Granseal Castle

Astral (remember him?) welcomes Bowie back.

April Script Thanks to you, Granseal has many allies to trade with now.

Bedoe has informed Astral and the king of the goings-on.'

April Script I never imagined Zeon being revived!

'The minister asks what this means for Princess Elis. Peter informs them that she's alive.

April Script What did you say?! Is she alive!

Very confused line from Peter in the April script, since he just said that Princess Elis was alive.

April Script Did we hear you right, [Hero?]

Bowie nods. He and Peter explain in detail what they've come to know.

The infamous "Evil Spilit" gaffe isn't in the April or May scripts. It was added in the final draft!

Astral joins the force! As an adviser, not a fighter, but still, he's here for the long haul now.

New Granseal

After visiting the local dwarf to get some dynamite for the cannon, and just before exiting the town, Bowie & company are stopped by an off-screen voice.

April Script I finally found you. You're [Hero], are you not?

An elf, cloaked similarly to Elric but with a pink twist, approaches the group.

April Script What's going on?

Final Script Who are you?

April Script My love, I mean [Elric] is with you. Is it true?

Final Script My love, I mean [Elric] is with you. Am I right?

April Script But nobody forced him. [Elric] decided it.

Final Script Yes, he joined us willingly.

The elf explains that she doesn't want to take him away, she wants to join him in combat.

April Script It's not for sight- seeing. Do you know what I mean?

Final Script This is not a sightseeing trip, if you know what I mean?

She still wants to go.

April Script OK, you look tough enough.

Final Script OK, you look tough enough, anyway.

Janet joins the force!

North Cliff

There's another battle here. It's not important.

Setting up the cannon in front of the North Cliff cave entrance, Astral asks Rohde to assist.

April Script I think you know these kind of things well. [Hero] has a cannon and explosive here. Can you remove that rock?

Final Script You know about devices like this, right? [Hero] has a cannon and some dynamite here. Can you remove those rocks?

Rohde, who's successfully operated an ancient vehicle that's able to shrink people, says he'll try to get the cannon working.

April Script [Rohde] gets the explosive from [Hero].

Final Script [Rohde] gets the dynamite from [Hero].

April Script Stay back. Ready?

With a mighty blast, the cluster of rocks clogging the entrance is completely cleared out.

April Script This is great! This cannon is great!

April Script I can attend the battle with this weapon.

After asking if the cannon is needed for anything else, Rohde gets giddy.

April Script Wow, now I can fight with you!

One sailor in town foreshadows an upcoming story point.

The town's expanding trade is good news for the local shopkeeps.

As Bowie and the rest have gained fighting experience, the soldiers have been practicing at home.

April Script See? These guys have been getting tougher these days.

Final Script See? Our guards are getting tougher day by day.

The soldier assigned to the castle's small library has a valid question.

April Script How long should I keep standing here?
