April Script
They're not aware, but Volcanon has been irritated...
Final Script
You're not aware, but Volcanon has become irriated...
The town rumbles!
April Script
...like that! And, it's getting worse. What's wrong?
Final Script
...like that! And, it's getting worse. What's wrong you ask?
What's wrong is that the entire town quakes violently, white light filling the area.
April Script
Whoa! Volcanon exploded! It must be an evil omen....
Final Script
Whoa! Mt. Volcano erupted! It's an evil omen.
As Bowie and co. head to the base of Mt. Volcano, a blue-haired boy walks in and quickly collapses. The beastman by the volcano's entrance calls for the mayor.
April Script
Mayor, a boy from the hill is seriously injured!
Final Script
Mayor, a boy from the mountain is seriously injured!
The mayor quickly inspects the boy.
April Script
Wooo...his eyes are seriously damaged!
Final Script
Ohhh...his eyes are seriously damaged!
The mayor takes the boy to his house for rehabilitation. Bowie takes the force to the base of Mt. Volcano to advance the plot.
Base of Mt. Volcano
Peter spies a group of monsters at the top of the volcano's base. They're looking for something...
The monsters are looking at marks on the ground. They wonder if it's evidence of a battle against the birdmen of Bedoe.
April Script
Could be...but.... See those volcano rocks.
Final Script
Could be... see those volcanic rocks?
They know that they're from Volcanon, but he's never attacked the birdmen before. The Evil Cloud (Read: Palette-swapped Gizmo) in the group quickly spots Bowie's gang.
April Script
Final Script
The Evil Cloud (Read: Presumptuous Gizmo) thinks they're Polca people.
April Script
Polca people are cowards living the peaceful life.
Final Script
Polcan people are cowards that live in peace.
The Death Archer declares that they'll never return alive! And he's right, because all the monsters are summarily slaughtered.
The blue-faced archer wonders how they're able to defeat devils.
April Script
Ah! You have the evil jewel around your neck.... It's you, [Hero]... I been waiting for you....
June Script
Ah! You have the Jewel of Evil around your neck. It's you, [Hero]. I've been waiting for you.
Final Script
Ah! You have the Jewel of Evil around your neck. It's you, [Hero]. We've been waiting for you.
The death archer dies dead by detonating.
April Script
[Hero], did you hear that? He said, he was waiting for you. Why are devils chasing you?
Final Script
[Hero], did you hear that? He said, he had been waiting for you. Why do the devils want you?
Bedoe
At the entrance to Bedoe, two birdmen keep guard. They're keen to Bowie's distinctly non-avian appearance.
April Script
Bedoe is a kingdom of birdmen!
Final Script
Bedoe is only for birdmen!
April Script
Why are you so high- handed?
Final Script
The birdmen salute Sir Peter. Yes, Peter was knighted. The big yellow bird grasps on something strange.
April Script
It's too quiet and too alert than usual.
Final Script
I just realized... Why are you flying guard?
April Script
Final Script
Yep. Devils invaded Bedoe.
April Script
Final Script
It happens. The devils broke through Volcanon's barrier, but he drove them back because, well, he's Volcanon.
April Script
Bowie, they were also of the devil army!
Final Script
The devils we fought must have been part of that army!
April Script
Final Script
You met some other devils?
The excitable birdmen fly off to the battlefield. Peter stops them, saying that they're already dead.
April Script
Final Script
April Script
Final Script
We'll go and make sure...
April Script
Final Script

April Script
We're going to Polca to patrol.

Final Script
We're going to Polca village to patrol.
Peter takes Bowie to see King Bedoe.
In the throne room, a guard captain is addressing her troops, Luke -- a named character so he must be important -- and King Bedoe.
April Script
And...what about the greater devil?
Final Script
What about the greater devil?
April Script
Final Script
April Script
Can't you track him? We should kill him before he regains his strength.
Final Script
Can't you track him? We must capture him before he regains his strength.
The guard captain thinks he came from Grans Island. She tells her forces to watch for another attack.
This is where Peter and Bowie walk in. Claude greets Peter, and King Bedoe asks Peter how his trip was.
April Script
Let me introduce my friends.

I know. He is a pupil of Astral of Granseal.
Peter asks how he knows of Astral. Turns out the party took so long to get there that Luke had time to visit New Granseal.
April Script
Final Script
King Bedoe brings up the fact that the people of Granseal unleashed Zeon, who could very well destroy the world.
April Script
Sorry to interrupt you but...is he that strong?
Final Script
Sorry to interrupt, but is he that strong?
April Script
Zeon is king of kings in devil legends.
Final Script
Zeon is King of the Devils.
Translation Notes
There's a pretty consistent change of Zeon's title in later scripts. In the April script there are multiple devil kings, with Zeon ruling over all, while in the later scripts he's the sole king.
April Script
Peter, you had better go and see God Volcanon.
Final Script
Peter, you had better go see Volcanon.
Peter's return might calm him down.
April Script
Oh, is he displeased? Maybe later--
Final Script
Oh, is he angry? Maybe later...
Well, too bad, Volcanon's been waiting for Peter. King Bedoe asks Peter if he's taking Bowie along with him.

April Script
He thinks Granseal people are--

Final Script
Welcome back, [Peter]. You look well.
Peter had an interesting trip, so he says.
April Script
What was so interesting for you?
Final Script
What made it interesting?
April Script
I've talked to a lot of people on the ground.

I can't forgive them for this!
More temple rumblings. Volcanon really likes doing this.
April Script
Volcanon, please calm down! Please!
Final Script
Volcanon, please calm down!
April Script
[Hero]'s not the man who did it!
Final Script
[Hero]'s not the person who did it!
April Script
Everybody on the ground has to take responsibility for what happened.
Final Script
Everybody who lives on the ground is responsible.
April Script
They have to expiate this by themselves.
Final Script
They have to solve this by themselves.
Translation Notes
Expiation is the act of appeasing a deity. It's an appropriate word, but it's probably beyond the reading level of the rest of the game's script.
April Script
Final Script
April Script
I'll never help nor protect them regarding this incident.

And, finally, Peter properly joins the party.

Afterwards, the turtle is back in the same spot. Or is the fairy in disguise again? Was there ever a turtle in this town? Anyways, he's talking about something or other.
