Sonic Adventure: Trial Version is a version of Sonic Adventure, released as part of the Dreamcast Generator vol. 1 and vol. 2 demo discs.

It has a build date of July 8, 1999, about two months before the final game's US release.

Differences

  • The title screen lacks the rippling effects from the final, and is just a still image that fades in, as seen here.
  • The English lip sync isn't implemented yet, much like in Limited Edition. This is visible in the cutscenes that play before gameplay demos in the attract mode.
  • Emerald Coast is the only playable level.
  • After reaching Tails in Emerald Coast, the player is greeted with an "In Store Now!" screen.
  • Much of the Japanese language data is absent, including the menu textures and voices, resulting in the menus having incorrect textures if the language is set to Japanese. The only part of the Japanese version that remains is the dialogue text.

Unused Levels

If you think Red Mountain looks weird, Icecap Act 2 is made out of Tails textures!

Level geometry and data files for Speed Highway, Windy Valley, Icecap, Red Mountain, Hot Shelter, and the Adventure Fields exist on the disc. However, extra files, like lighting, music, objects, or textures, don't.
