Proto:SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge (PlayStation)/Uncompiled Prototypes
This is a sub-page of Proto:SpongeBob SquarePants: SuperSponge (PlayStation).
| This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
These prototypes were never compiled, but their source code can be found in the Visual SourceSafe archive on Github. They date back to as far as August 29th, 2000. The archive isn't exactly complete, as the developers would delete things in Visual SourceSafe, making certain deleted files not recoverable, and thus rendering several prototypes impossible to build the way they might've been.

Sound Effects
data/Sfx/ingame/ingame.xm contains strange sound effects sampled from various sources.
meow meow
A sound clip taken from a Meow Mix commercial. In the XM file, it plays once then reverses as a infinite loop.
you bastard
A sound clip taken from the South Park episode "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe".
strain 1 and 2
Two... rather interesting strain sound effects from an unknown source.
attack8
A sci-fi attack sound.
foot step
A foot step.
Music
Looking at the code, some music is referenced with names not seen within the final source. Unfortunately, the commits didn't back these files up, but we do know what it was named. Those music names being,
- HYPERMMX
- DROPPOP
- Used on the title screen.
- MUSIC
- TITLE
- INGAME
- Used while in a level.
Most references to these files were removed by a January 9, 2001 commit, where some final music was added.

Sound Effects
data/Sfx/ingame/ingame.xm contains early versions of sound effects actually for the game.
Anemon
A splat/splash sound.
Item_d
Sb_jump
A lower-pitched version of the prototype jump sound.
Clam_d
Glass breaking.
Item_p
The item pick-up sound, though more resembling the end of the show's theme song.

Another jingle.

The ground textures were originally pink, later changed to a less unpleasant purple, and the goop texture was brighter. These early textures can be seen in action in the February - April 2001 prototypes of the GBA version.
