This is a sub-page of Proto:Spyro: Shadow Legacy.

Main Area

  • The level appears to be considerably less polished than the other areas in the game.
  • Not including the shadow realm enemies guarding the armadillos, there is only one enemy in the entire level - a goat in the cliffs.
  • Tomas does not tell you how many more citizens need to be saved here, nor does he let you know when everyone has been saved.
  • There's a strange black square near the entrance.
  • Also nearby is a red gem, which more closely resembles the ones from the original trilogy. Picking it up grants Spyro an impressive 100 Gems. It is not found in any other level.

  • There's a dragon egg in the baskets near the start of the level. In the final, the egg is in the bottom tunnel.
  • The items you need to finish Sofia and Isabel's quest (Plump Grub, Wriggling Worm and Boll Weevil Juice) are all conveniently placed together next to where they appear after being rescued.

  • The enemies guarding Fransisco are facing a different angle.

  • The boulder next to Bandit is absent.

  • None of the armadillos phase out of the shadow realm after being rescued, they just disappear.
  • There's a Lookout and a Long Legs guarding Isabel. In the final, there are two Long Legs instead.
    • Isabel's rock is a little glitched; Spyro (and his enemies) go halfway through it.

  • The block near Isabel also does not have the correct collision data.
  • The phase pad near the first cliff is a little broken. Or, rather, there's a graphic chunk which overlaps it, likely belonging to the blank space near the beginning of the level.

    • If Spyro steps on this pad in the real world before rescuing Fransisco, both the pad and Spyro will move over to his platform, before returning. If in the shadow realm, the camera will reveal him as intended.
  • Spyro moves through a bit of the tunnel nearest Sofia instead of over it.
  • Even though the text for it is present, there's no cutscene after you rescue everyone.
  • When gathering the items for the feast, boll weevil is written as bolweevil by mistake. The ingredient is also listed as boll weevil instead of boll weevil juice.

Tunnels

  • As with the entrance, there are no enemies here in the prototype.
  • At the other end of the first tunnel, Spyro can move further than he can in the final. This results in his body going straight through the floor.
SSL-Proto-CTTunnel.png
  • One of the boulders in the bottom tunnel has a graphical error. When destroyed, it fades out without showing an animation.
SSL-Proto-BoulderG.png
  • In the bottom tunnel, no solid blocks are present.
  • In Pablo's tunnel, standing on the far left phase pad causes Spyro's head to pop out over the animation.
SSL-Proto-Phase.png
  • The camera does not follow Spyro as much to this position as it does in the final. Finally, the pad was moved down a bit in the final.

  • When speaking to Pablo and Fransisco, if you decline their request, the Yes/No markings will remain for one more sentence. Pressing X will automatically start their text over and over until you eventually accept. If you decline too many times, the palette glitches on them.

  • The Digging Gloves are right in front of you when you enter the tunnel.

SSL-Proto-Gloves.png
  • The boulders in Pablo's tunnel are a different color.
Prototype Final
SSL-Proto-OOB1.png SSL-Boulders.png
  • You can also get out of bounds in Pablo's tunnel using these boulders! Double jump onto the two largest boulders, double jump again and glide out of the area. The game will often push Spyro further back at first. Although there's not much of interest, there's a large amount of garbage tiles north east of the level.

Cliffs

  • There's a large boulder at the north which contains the Wriggling Worm in the final that is absent in the prototype, likely because the items can all be found at the bottom anyway.
    • The goat enemy has been moved over a tad due to this.

  • One of the old gems is near Pablo. Also, in the final, he is placed in front of the cage, whereas in the prototype he is behind it like he should be.

SSL-Proto-Pablo.png SSL-Pablo.png
  • Pablo has a mild text error.
SSL-Proto-PabloSaved.png
  • In the real world near Sofia, the dragon egg is "hidden" behind a house. Actually, it's not supposed to be hidden, but Spyro goes through it like many other items in this level. In the final, it's moved over to the side.
