This page details one or more prototype versions of Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force.

This demo of Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force was compiled on June 21, 2000, just two months before the final retail build. It was released in early July.

General Differences

  • Subtitle text and HUD text are entirely in uppercase.
  • Stretched use of console font appears on much of the Holomatch HUD.
  • MOUSE4 and MOUSE5 cannot be bound.
  • No option for anisotropic filtering.
  • Various words are misspelled.
  • Early shader definitions, code changes, and script assets for much of the final content not included with the demo.

Kenn Lathrop's biography Lathrop's father was a hunter who taught his son to depend on himself and to live off the land. But his mother, a pianist with the Canadian Symphony, saw to it her son was aware of the more cultured things in life such as music and dance. A dissatisfied person, even in youth, Kenn was constantly in trouble at school for fighting with classmates and showing a total lack of respect for authority. After a very brief career at Starfleet Academy, Lathrop joined the Maquis, finding their fight with the Cardassians a good way to release his aggressions. He is best friends with Kendrick Biessman from their days as Maquis. Lathrop is also an avid chess fan, but is routinely trounced by Naomi Wildman. Lathrop's parents were forced to flee their homeworld of Bajor during the Cardassian occupation due to his father's outspoken political views. Item/Weapon Differences

Tricorder

The unused tricorder doesn't have a first-person model and its icon is a hilarious looking crude placeholder that seems to be edited from an early icon for the IMOD weapon. It also doesn't describe the weight or height of whoever you point it to. Graphics for the sensor are missing.

The early sound might have fit with disintegrating Etherians, given how similar it sounds to sound/ambience/statis/intostatis.mp3. The early human disintegration sound replaced this one in the final.

Early Munro Sounds

Early sounds for the player. These are only used in Holomatch, and are completely removed in the final game.

Holomatch Differences

While most of the single-player demo represents very closely to the final, there's lots of polish left to do on the Holomatch portion (multiplayer).

Blood

Many trekkies have dreamed of this...

The unused blood sprites can be enabled in this prototype by setting com_blood to 1. Only certain projectile weapons can shed blood (Scavenger primary, Stasis primary, Tetrion disruptor secondary).
