Differences

As the demo only allowed you to play the first scene in the Scarab of Lost Souls, there are not many differences spotted.

Loading Screen

  • In the demo the loading screen was completely black with the text "Please Wait" on the top left corner of the screen. In the final it has a camera crew with the Stuntman logo in the upper left of the screen slowly fading out.
  • The loading screen for the level has the Scarab of the Lost Souls art with a PS2 controller on the screen explaining what each button does. This isn't used in the final version, although a similar one exists in the Stunt Constructor.
  • After the level's introduction cutscene there is a loading screen with the Scarab of the Lost Souls background and a screen showing each stunt icon and what to do to pass them. No such screen exists in the final version.

Both the scene loading screens slowly fade to black during the demo. In the final they switch straight to game. This is possibly done to prevent time wasting.

Also, the demo uses an earlier loading screen for the menu with a camera crew and Stuntman's logo with stars circling around the "S". In the final the stars are replaced with bigger red stars that are behind the "S". The demo's loading screen is used for the language selection in the PAL version, however.

Menu

  • The background was static and starred the stuntman from the game's box cover. The final version uses a movie with random clips from stunting to explosions.

Menu/Gamemodes

  • Stunt Constructor was known as "Arena Constructor" in the demo. Also it's grayed out and can't be accessed.
  • Driving games was known as "Stunt Games" in the demo. Also it's grayed out and can't be accessed.
  • There was a "Quit Demo" option, for obvious reasons.
  • Instead of Options, there was "Center Screen" and "Help".
  • There was "Rolling Demo" which played the game's trailer. The trailer is still accessible in the final game under the "Extras".
  • The Career mode was "Playable Demo" and jumped straight to the scene.

Gameplay

  • Graphics seemed to be slightly worse and there were less props placed.
  • The camera was set to first person as default.
  • The stunt failed camera was facing slightly higher than it does in the final game.
  • The scene introduction camera was animated differently.
  • Stuntman's dialogue during the scene introduction appears to be re-recorded.

Also, quite interestingly, the demo uses .VOE extension for the models, as opposed to .VAN in the final version.
