This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.
A prototype of the US version of Tecmo Stackers was released by Hidden Palace in April 2021 as part of "Project Deluge". Dated June 14, 1997 (two months before the final's August 15 build date), the disc label indicates this was the version shown at that year's E3.
Differences
- A screen is displayed before the Tecmo logo, stating that this build is for review purposes and not for resale.
- Japanese sounds are still included in this build, whereas the US final contains solely English sounds.
- The Insane Mode and Options menus are missing from the main menu.
- The loading screen says "WAIT A MINUTE.." in this build. The US final changed this to "PLEASE WAIT..".
- The full stops during the loading screen are higher in the prototype.
