This is a sub-page of Proto:Yume Nikki/Map and Event Differences.

FC World was gradually added onto throughout development.

In v0.04, only the FC House and its basement existed. v0.06 is the first known version to feature the FC Overworld. Additionally, v0.04 is missing the sound effect for transitioning between rooms.

Menu

v0.04

  • The FC World menu in v0.04 lacks a window for Yen and is slightly shorter due to having fewer effects.
  • In the Cat effect's name (ねこ), the character is larger than in later versions. Strangely, the size change did not carry over to the Midget effect (こびと), which also has a character.

v0.06

  • A window for Yen has been added, and the menu has been enlarged to accommodate more effects.
  • The in the Cat effect's name (ねこ) has also been made smaller, making the menu look almost identical to the final version.
  • The only difference from v0.10 is a minor error where the left-hand cursor is slightly displaced; an error not present in v0.04. This error would remain up to v0.09.

Static Maze

v0.04

  • The gate leading back to Shield Folk World lacked graphics, being just a black tile.
  • The light at the bottom of the ladder is drawn differently.

FC House

v0.04

  • While the music's composition is the same, it sounds more compressed due to it being a 16 kHz WAV file, most noticeable with the drums. It was changed to a 44kHz MP3 file by v0.06.
  • The house is much larger and has a burgundy-colored roof.
  • The side of the house is shaded with line hatching.
  • A different tree graphic is used. The tree used in this version remains in v0.10 as an unused graphic.
  • More blades of grass are on the ground.
  • The FC Demon can be found inside the house, but it does not provide an effect; it only plays its sound effect.
  • A potted tree is placed inside the house.
  • The carpet and windows inside the house have a minutely lighter tint.
  • The baseboard inside the house is thicker.

v0.06

  • The house became smaller, and the roof is now colored purple. It is now much closer to its final design.
    • Though the house is smaller, the collision from the old version is still present, as you can't walk through the portion where the right side of the house used to be.
  • More blades of grass are visible, since the house became smaller.
  • The side of the house became a tad thinner in v0.10.
  • The window on the side of the house was moved a bit in v0.10.

FC Basement

v0.04

  • Only 18 maps exist at this point. By v0.06, four more maps were added to this area.
  • In the first room of the basement, v0.04 lacks the rocks, and has a potted tree.
  • In the map FC Basement 13, the door leading to FC Basement 20 is missing.
  • The door leading to the FC Demon's room is missing, and two of the Kinoko-san were moved one tile to the right.
  • The music has different instrumentation.
  • The Goblin Boss music is slightly longer, and has different instrumentation.

v0.06

  • Four more maps were added to this area since v0.04 for a total of 22.
    • Doors have been added to the appropriate rooms for access to these maps.
  • The FC Demon has been moved to its proper room, and now provides an effect.
  • The music is now the same as v0.10.
  • The music used in the Goblin Room has different instrumentation yet again.

v0.08

The Goblin Room now has the same music as in v0.10.

FC Overworld

v0.06

  • The overworld's layout is similarly shaped in some parts, yet still quite different from v0.10.
  • Like v0.10, much of it is unused. Only the island on the leftmost side is accessible. FC Village and FC Cave Entrance can be entered from it.

v0.07

  • The overworld has been expanded, but no new events/entrances have been added in.
  • Its overall form is starting to look like v0.10, though it is lacking in detail.

v0.08

Nearly identical to v0.10, but there are a few differences.

  • In FC World B (the southernmost island), the shore's tiles are arranged in such a way that prevent access to the FC Pyramids, effectively making half of FC World B unused. Despite this, the FC Pyramids are, indeed, fully functional as a map, and can be entered if you bypass the barrier through illegitimate means.
    • This may have been an oversight, as v0.07's layout did not block access to this section of FC World B, despite still being in development.

  • A single mountain tile is missing on the southern side of FC World B.
  • There is an additional bridge connecting the middle island to the eastern island. It ultimately doesn't matter, since FC World C isn't accessible. Later versions removed this bridge and replaced it with connecting land on the northern side.
  • The unused portion of the map, FC World C, actually has one event programmed into it at the top of the middle island leading to the unused FC World Peninsula.

v0.09

  • The layout is now the same as in v0.10.
  • FC World C still has a connection to the unused FC World Peninsula, though this would be removed in v0.10.
    • This area would have been accessible through the unused NASU Link event.

FC Cave Entrance

v0.06

  • A Lizardman NPC and walls were added in v0.10.
  • The graphic for the stone walls is different.
  • Some land was removed to add water on the north side in v0.10.

FC Village

v0.06

  • The graphic for the stone walls is different (same change as in FC Cave Entrance).
  • The walls are shorter and less plentiful.
  • The village lacks water.
  • The staircase leading to FC Dungeon is missing, as the area did not exist yet.

v0.09

  • Some construction has been done, adding and re-arranging stone blocks.
  • The stairs leading to FC Dungeon have been added.
  • Water has been added.

FC Dungeon

v0.09

  • The size of the map was enlarged from 130×130 to 150×150 tiles in v0.10. This has no effect on the existing rooms, and was probably done for possible future expansion that never came to be.
  • The Glitch Room remains unlit, like the rest of the FC Dungeon. The difference would persist in the unpatched v0.10, but the Yumesyuusei patch changed this to make the room lit up regardless of whether you have the Lamp effect equipped.

FC Ruins

v0.08

  • The Aztec walls have a different appearance. Several more appear in v0.09.
  • A Lizardman is trapped between some of the stone walls.
  • Less stone walls are present in both maps, making the layout slightly different.
  • The basement floor dims when entered, requiring the Lamp effect to light up.
  • A Lizardman was added to the basement floor in v0.10.
  • The Squish-Squish effect is now obtained here.

FC Pyramids

v0.08

  • The area is inaccessible through normal means in v0.08 due to tiles in FC World B physically blocking access. v0.09 would fix the path to this area.
  • Many stone walls cover the map.
  • There are two less pyramids.
  • The entrance is on the left side of the map instead of the middle.

  • Two of the rock walls were moved over to make room for the face-like structures in v0.10.
