Proto talk:Sonic R (Sega Saturn)

GameHut (Programer at Traveller's Tales) recent discoveries.
This guy found a lot of his old prototypes on the games they worked on. He discovered 3 Sonic R prototypes:
- V0.3 is the most recent version (and the only one where you can move freely). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCvYTOxWcj4
- V0.2 was the earliest for a while until he found another. Sonic is on rails in this prototype and there are lots of visual glitches. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk8IKHxVDug
- V0.1 had to be compiled using the original libraries to be playable. There is not a lot of textures and even no player model! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEl508T02qY
I don't think he'll ever release these soon, but it's good to dream...
He's made a new video and they do have dates. 0.3 was May 2nd, 1997 at 3:30pm, possibly the build used at E3? 0.1 is from March 14th, 1997 at 2:56am, and 0.2 is from April 3rd, 1997 at 3:15pm. Should we document this in Prereleases since we can get clean screenshots as well as video proof? This website's prototype page are for builds of games that have been found and preserved, and released. Jon's done all that but release it. And I can see why. But we have enough to expand the Prereleases page. --Professor64 (talk) 15:57, 18 May 2018 (EDT)
Secret areas
Hi,
Are these secret areas I appear to have discovered in Resort Island and Radical City worth putting in the article? (you can't get to them in the final as far as I'm aware) I've taken some screenshots but I think they may be too big. AdamP (talk) 23:07, 26 July 2018 (EDT)
- It appears to just be a bug of the camera going too far out of bounds and how the game works, you eventually loop around to the map again. Interesting to see, but not anything unused unfortunately.Zerovii (talk) 01:20, 27 July 2018 (EDT)
Secret Characters
I wonder if the secret characters (Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, Tails Doll, Egg Robo and Super Sonic) already exist in the prototype. Can anyone check if it's possible to play as them? GDias (talk) 12:15, 14 October 2018 (EDT)
