If the game detects that the disk ID has been modified, the game will instead show this screen. The speech bubble translates to "Too bad, huh..."

Bonus Image

Ranma ½-MSX-bonus.png

On Disk 1 is an image named "ヌリエ.SR7". There is an accompanying text document named "ヌリエ.DOC" which seems to explain what it is. "ヌリエ" literally translates to, "picture for coloring in" or more perhaps more concisely, "colorme".

There's an extra file on the disk, COLORME.SR7 is still in black and white. It's been scanned with a scanner but, try coloring it in!

About porting to the MSX

Several people asked, "Is a faithful port of the original game to the MSX even possible, since the MSX has such limited disk capacity?" Certainly, the MSX having a much smaller 2DD disk-drive compared to the PC-98 having a 2HD disk-drive was a handicap to the production process, but

The PC98 has 128 Kbytes of VRAM per screen
The MSX has 64 Kbytes of VRAM per screen
(In reality, it's a bit less, but...)

Which is a two-fold difference. (PC98 is 640x480 16 colors, compared to the MSX's Screen7 which is 512x212 16 colors) Do you understand now?

In the MSX's case, the floppies are half the size, but its screen-size is also half the size compared to the PC98, which is a good thing (with it also being vertical VRAM, it was highly compressible!)

Another thing people said was, "The PC98 version had 8 disks, so the MSX version will be 16 disks, so it would be impossible to port!". Because of the above, it was also possible to port it using the same number of disks as the PC98 version. Hey- that writing style's terrible!? But, I suppose that you were still able to understand it.

After all that, everyone please, provided that you're able to, please fill out and send in the survey post-card. (These days, I think you have to use a stamp... (;_;) )

Because of all the post-cards sent in, and because we're not thinking of porting Gin'eiden III [Legend of the Galactic Heroes III] to the MSX (Right now, we're not thinking about porting anything to the MSX!) this humble programmer asks from the bottom of his heart to all the people who will send in fervant "Port this~!" requests, to please wait.

Even so, I'm happy when you write your machine's RAM capacity on the card! In case it's not written on an open post-card, I don't mind a sealed letter either! (^_^)

Well then, please continue loving your MSX, and your fun life using computers!

Muhuhuhuhu

Shall I tell you how to do an extremely underhanded trick that no one knows about?

Now, on a survey postcard with my usual skill, or whatever this is!

Without a stamp (or so I think)

Yeah, if you spend 41 yen on this it's wasteful.

But it's a miracle if you can mail a post-card without putting your address on it.

Just do it right and you'll receive it just fine.

However, because the best parts of my (the programer's) sense of humor are always given to people on an individual basis, you might not be able to understand it well, riiight?

Sooo, what're you gonna do?

P.S. Because this little trick has become such a bother any way you slice it, people with no money, please don't bother participating. And also, because it'll be a pain if this leaks out, please keep this an absolute secret!

Thank you for purchasing Ranma 1/2 Legend of the Flying Dragon MSX turbo-R version!

There's some unused MIDI files on these disks that we didn't use. (We had plans to support MIDI though.)

A Roland MT32 or the like is needed to play them. Because the data-format is .RCP, an MSX sold with the current MSX Bit2 sequencer software won't work.

However, through the use of Bit2's data-conversion-tool or one of the extra tools in Microcabin's Illusion City you can play it, so please buy it and enjoy the music. (Do it for the sake of the MSX's future!)

Furthermore, according to the Japanese Copyright Act, it must be restricted to listening by individuals only. Therefore, it cannot be shared without authorization. As far as inquiries related to that are concerned, since we can't give authorization, please forgive us for being unable to do so.
