Debug Mode
When booting the game from the command prompt, enter QUEST:ExLyDz after the executable, where "x" is the episode (1 to 3), "y" is the level (1 to 9, except Episode 1 which uses 1 to 8) and "z" is the difficulty level (1 to 5). For example, roc.exe QUEST:E3L2D4 will send ypu to Episode 3 Level 2 on difficulty 4.
Omitting "Ex" will default to Episode 1, omitting "Ly" will default to Level 1 of the selected episode, and omitting "Dz" will default to normal difficulty. Using level values higher than available will default to last available level ("E1L9" will result in E1L8).
There are also tech support parameters that can be entered when booting the game up:
- NOEMS - Disable checking for EMS.
- NOXMS - Disable checking for XMS.
- FORCEMEM - Skip Memory Checking Routine (may cause the game to perform poorly).
To enter "examine level" mode, hold Caps Lock + D + X. This mode is exited by pressing the jump key (default: Ctrl). Game may become unresponsive in some situations (for example when checking characters' status using F5) until Caps Lock is pressed twice.
Pressing Backspace and entering these words in (case-insensitive) correctly will active further cheats:
- MAGMA - Fully powers up the health capacity of both characters.
- FIRE - Fully powers up weapons of both characters.
- RAIN - Recharges health points of both characters.
- ASTRAL - Changes the amount of carried gems to 250.
- PRIME - Gives the effects of the above four.
- WIND - Toggles invincibility (immunity to everything except spikes, drowning, and crushing weights).
- ETHER - Activates the level warp.
Using the ETHER level warp, it is possible to teleport to an otherwise-unreachable secret level called the Rec Room, marked as E3LS. While the syntax of the warp window implies only Levels 1 to 26 are available, using 27 instead moves the player to the hidden level. (It is not possible to reach this level with the "QUEST:ExLyDz" command line prompt.)
