Risk of Rain 2/Unused Items

From The Cutting Room Floor

This is a sub-page of Risk of Rain 2.

Items

Base Game

AACannon

There is an unused ProcType (ProcType.AACannon), Projectile ("RoR2/Junk/AACannon/AACannon.prefab"), and impact effect ("RoR2/Junk/AACannon/ImpactAACannon.prefab"). It is likely that this would have fired its projectile based on some criterion. Its name could refer to "Anti-Aircraft Cannon".

BurnNearby

This item causes the wearer to have the same effect as using a Helfire Tincture, although it will not be consumed. Of note is that Helfire Tincture's internal name is "BurnNearby" but as an Equipment. This has the ItemTag "Damage".

CrippleWardOnLevel

Tag: Utility, CannotCopy This has an associated manager: CrippleWardOnLevelManager. Upon leveling up, the wearer drops a cripple ward (the same type of ward that the Effigy of Grief drops). The radius is 8m and increases by 8m per stack.

Incubator

Icon ItemTags Name Internal Name Pickup Desc Desc
File:RoR2-IncubatorIcon.png Utility, OnKillEffect Ancestral Incubator Incubator Chance on kill to summon an Ancestral Pod. 7% chance (+1% per stack) on kill to summon an Ancestral Pod that distracts enemies.

Once it fully grows, it will hatch into an allied Parent with 100% health (+100% per stack)

This item has two DeployableSlots: ParentPodAlly and ParentAlly. The pod is a large waxy egg that can be killed by enemies. After a certain amount of time without it dying, the pod spawns an allied "Parent". This would have dropped from the "Grandparent" given that a previous version of the Grandparent spawned its own Parent Pods. The item tier would have been Boss, given the outline color.

MageAttunement

This has an associated component: MageCalibrationController. Artificer is known internally as "Mage" so its likely she would have spawned with this item. The amount of stacks of this item would be converted to the enum "MageElement" to choose between the elements: None, Fire, Ice, and Lightning.

PlantOnHit

Other than the name, there's no information about this item.

PlasmaCore

While there's no code for this item, there is an associated ProcType: "PlasmaCore".

Skull Token

Icon ItemTags Name Internal Name Pickup Desc Desc
File:RoR2-SkullTokenIcon.png Skull Token SkullCounter Proof of a specific kind of kill. Has no direct effect of its own. Proof of a specific kind of kill. Has no direct effect of its own.

This was likely the item used for keeping track of Bandit's Desperado stacks. The stacks previously would have been able to be carried between stages but testers would grind the first stage to get stacks, so the tracking method was changed to a buff that doesn't transfer between stages.

TempestOnKill

25% chance on kill to create a Tempest Ward which lasts 8 seconds (+6s per stack) on the ground at the killed enemy’s location. Tempest Wards continually grant all allies within 5 meters +100% attack speed for 2 seconds. There is an unused buff icon texture for this item. This item has the 'Utility' and 'OnKillEffect' tags.

WarCryOnCombat

This item has two associated components: WarCryOnCombatBodyBehavior and WarCryOnCombatCombatDisplayController. It has the 'Damage' tag. This item shares the same model and icon as the Berzerker's Pauldron. Upon entering combat, the player gains an aura that applies the "War Cry" buff for 6 (+4 per stack) seconds to all allies within 12 meters (+4m per stack). The cooldown for activation is 30 seconds, and the wearer must first be out of combat to enter into combat to activate it.

SummonedEcho

The holder periodically spawns small black orbs with blue fire radiating off of them. These orbs track enemies with a harmless blue laser, and periodically fly in a straight line and stops to retarget. On contact with any surface or enemy, they will explode, dealing 260% damage to enemies in a tiny radius. The holder gets increased movement speed, but their maximum health is reduced to 10%.

This item does not stack and doesn't appear in the item bar. It is used by clones spawned by the unused Echo Elite. These echoes have the "BODY_MODIFIER_ECHO" prefix of "{0} "

CritHeal

Gives +5% critical strike chance. Divides critical strike chance by n+1, where n is the number of stacks held, and turns it into "critical healing" chance, which is a chance for any healing received to be doubled. This item shares the same model and icon as the Corpsebloom. This appears to be a early version of the Corpsebloom that was scrapped.

Wicked Ring

Icon ItemTags Name Internal Name Pickup Desc Desc
File:RoR2-WickedRingIcon.png Wicked Ring CooldownOnCrit 'Critical Strikes' reduce cooldowns by 1 second. Gain 5% critical chance. Critical strikes reduces all your cooldowns by 1.

The Wicked Ring returns from Risk of Rain 1, functional with its own model. It plays its own sound effect ("Play_item_proc_crit_cooldown") and is affected by Proc Coefficient. The amount of time recharged for each skill is equal to: [amount of item x proc Coefficient].

DLC1

EmpowerAlways

This has the ItemTags: Utility, BrotherBlacklist. It's unknown what this item does, but its possible that it provided a persistent buff of some kind.

There's no code for this item, so its unknown what it's used for.

While this may seem to be an interesting puzzle, it's insidiously resistant to explanation. Those attempting to solve the riddle have unfortunately suffered subtle but persistent psychological harm. From the smirk of this silver monkey, you might conclude that this is its deliberate purpose.

Our patented new material technically falls into the category of \"high explosive\", but thanks to breakthroughs in quantum entanglement, its rate of decomposition is not just supersonic--it's superluminal. Void tier items are actually split into different Void Tiers (VoidTier1, VoidTier2, VoidTier3, VoidBoss). While you can't scrap void items, these likely would have been used by the unused **Suppressor**. The suppressed void items would have likely been converted to the Strange Scrap for their corresponding tiers. "Strange Scrap, White", (ScrapWhiteSuppressed) "Strange Scrap, Green" (ScrapGreenSuppressed), and "Strange Scrap, Red" (ScrapRedSuppressed). They all have the "WorldUnique" and "Scrap" tag.

VoidmanPassiveItem

"Voidman" likely refers to the playable Void Fiend. There's no code reserved for this item, but its likely it would have been used in some form regarding its abilities or his corruption passive.

Gold Flask

Icon ItemTags Name Internal Name Pickup Desc Desc
File:RoR2-ProtectionPotionIcon.png Gold Flask ProtectionPotion Gain a massive barrier at low health. Consumed on use. Gain a temporary barrier for 100% of your health when falling below 30% health.

As this item only appears in the language file, its effect cannot actually be used in-game. This may have been an early concept of what eventually became the Power Elixir.

Equipment

Base Game

Coven of Gold

Icon CD Lunar Name Internal Name Pickup Desc
File:RoR2-AffixGoldIcon.png Coven of Gold AffixGold Become an aspect of fortune.

Unknown effect. Applies a grey tint to the character and sparkles. This could possibly be related to Aurelionite.

EliteYellowEquipment

This is an unused Equipment Affix for a Yellow elite. This grants the wielder +2 movement speed and +50% attack speed. Risk of Rain 1 had "Frenzied" elites that were yellow that teleported, moved faster, and attacked faster; so its probable that this equipment was going to be used for it.

AffixEcho

Elite equipment for the unused Echo Elite. The holder passively gets the AffixEcho status. The item summons 2 allied copies of the holder that inherit items and gains the SummonedEcho item. This affix uses the "ELITE_MODIFIER_ECHO" echo prefix of "Annihilator {0}".

Enigma

Risk of Rain 1 used an "Enigma" equipment and would use a random equipment effect with its corresponding cooldown. Risk of Rain 2 instead sets the equipment for the player's equipment slot to a random equipment instead. It's unknown why Risk of Rain 2 decided to go with that method instead. As a consequence, there is no code reserved for this item.

Reaper's Remorse

Icon CD Lunar Name Internal Name Pickup Desc Desc
File:RoR2-GhostGunIcon.png Reaper's Remorse GhostGun Summon a ghostly revolver that doubles damage on kill. Ghost Gun description.

Internally known as "GhostGun", this has an associated component: GhostGunController. Upon activation, it fires towards an enemy within a radius of 20m for 500% damage. If it kills an enemy, the next shot will double in damage, and it shoots up to 6 times with up to a 2 second wait.

LunarPotion

Healing that the user receives is stored into a pool. Upon activation, the amount of health stored in the pool is used to heal the user. Healing from activating the potion does not contribute to the pool and is determined using the ProcType "LunarPotionActivation". This item has a cooldown of 5 seconds.

OrbitalLaser

When activated, a laser emitted from the player glows for 3 seconds, after which a large green beam from the sky will continuously strike where the player was aiming for 6 seconds up to 900m away, dealing 600% damage per second (120% damage per tick, proc coefficient of 0.5). The damage is coded to ramp up over time, though the initial and final damage are the same value so it doesn't change. It slowly tracks towards the aim. The lasers are covered in missing particle effects, so large pink boxes shroud most of the lasers when this equipment is actually used in-game.

SoulCorruptor

Despite the description, there is no code for it to function.
