Saints Row (2006)/Development Oversights
This is a sub-page of Saints Row (2006).

Because Saints Row was a rather large-scale project for Volition, it's no surprise that there are a few errors present;
Textures
Freckle Bitch's Logo Variants
Sign Texture (f38_sign_pl) | Billboard Texture (Cropped) | Ultor Dome Texture |
---|---|---|
Three variants of the Freckle Bitch's logo exist throughout the game. The texture on the sign and menu (f38_sign_pl) shows the girl with pigtails, freckles and blush on her face, while all the other textures have her with long hair and earrings without freckles on her face. This was likely changed so the mascot would resemble Wendy's less to avoid any legal issues.
A third graphic uses the modified design, but erroneously spelt as "Freckle Bitches" is used during the Demolition Derby Activity at the Ultor Dome and in the texture graphic for the fries in the "Aisha's Dinner" cutscene...but was also mentioned in the GamePro November 2005 preview of the game, which was likely considered at one point.
Strangely enough, the oddity for the first and second graphic remain in Saints Row 2 while also the mascot's original design herself ended up becoming a pedestrian. The third graphic would be erroneously used again at the Rounds Square Shopping Center on the food court menu.
Missing Lit "Cold Drinks" Texture
Cold Beer (liq_ddcooler01a_me and cooler01beer_me) |
Cold Drinks (cooler01drinks_me) |
---|---|
Throughout the branches of Brown Baggers, there are coolers that either say "Cold Drinks" or "Cold Beer". Only the Saint's Row (sr_chunk02_liquor) and (sr_chunk07_ls) Rebedaux branches use the "Cold Beer" textures (liq_ddcooler01a_me and cooler01beer_me), while everywhere else uses the "Cold Drinks" (cooler01drinks_me) texture. Oddly, there seems to be no "lit" variation of the "Cold Drinks" texture, nor it isn't shown that way in any coolers, likely being a last-minute change.
The "Cold Drinks" would be likely used more to not just apply to beer, but wines too.
Jacques Hennequet Tower Plaque Typo
Plaque Texture (c01_sign01) | Reflection (c01_sign01spec, Enlarged) |
---|---|
The specular reflection file (c01_sign01spec) for the existing Jacques Hennequet Tower Plaque graphic (c01_sign01spec)) found in chunk38 has a typo that spells Stilwater with two "L's" on the bottom sentence. It's likely a mistake as the "Stillwater" spelling didn't seem to last long in development according to prerelease builds.
Rim Jobs Billboard Error
The billboard advertisement for Rim Jobs (billboard22_cb) has the logo erroneously say "Rim Job" instead, which is the earlier name for it.
Scrapped Hairstyle
The Image As Designed billboard (billbord23_cb) has a hairstyle on the left that does not appear in the final.
Train Station Stilwater Map
The train stations located in Encanto and Filmore has a slightly early layout of Stilwater with the bigger top-left island on the eltrainst04_me graphic.
Rebedaux Earlier Name
The highway signs en route from the Docks districts near Pilsen mistakenly uses an earlier name for Rebedaux, where it was originally called Lasalle.
Save Marker Model Early Logo
The marker model for saving the game has the near-finalized logo of Saints Row, notably with a lower grey part rather than a grey line going through.
Audio
Drug Trafficking Vehicle Damage Voice Clips
In Drug Trafficking, the clients will make comments about the car being damaged at different levels, where some of the voice clips make references to it being their own car. Because other vehicles can be used, the following quotes will be semi-erroneously play. This is because that, along with the unused VEHDIE voice clips there was likely a secondary objective of keeping the vehicle unscathed.

One of the songs, Girl by Stereophonics actually plays audio of the song Lolita by the same artist. All instances of the song is referred to as the wrong title, even in the following radio announcements of The Faction 98.8 FM;

Nob Hill Early Name
Two of the newscasts that play during the 3rd Street Vice Kings mission errenously refer to Nob Hill as "Glenview Hills", which was an earlier name. It's likely that the name was changed late in development.

NEWS_VK_HERD_1 | I'm Jack Armstrong in the newsroom. This just in from the news desk: Glenview Hills seems to be the target of gangland warfare today as elements from the hoodlum gang known as Vice Kings are rampaging through the district as we speak. Reports indicate that everything is fair game and nothing is safe; storefronts smashed and firebombed, vehicles being destroyed, pedestrian traffic getting caught up in the violence - do not, repeat, do not, enter this area until the police have had a chance to quell the uprising. Repeating: Glenview Hills is under attack by the Vice King [sic] gang. If you are there now and are hearing this report, take appropriate safety measures. We will have a live report from Flying Officer Mike McCabe with the Stilwater Police Department in our Eye-in-the-Sky Chopper 2 as soon as he can get airborne. And we will keep an eye on this developing story here in the newsroom. I'm Jack Armstrong. | |
NEWS_VK_HERD_2 | Jack Armstrong: "I'm Jack Armstrong in the newsroom. We now have more details on the massive attacks in Glenview Hills today; as promised, Flying Officer Mike McCabe of the Stilwater Police Department is now in our Eye-in-the-Sky Chopper 2. What is the situation like now, officer Mike?" Mike McCabe: "Chaos, Jack, pure chaos. I'm circling over Glenview Hills as we speak, and the sight of burned-out cars, smashed storefront windows, dead bodies waiting to be toe-tagged - although it's hard to tell the bodies from the mannequins yanked from the fashion stores, Jack - it's like a warzone. While I am privy to some information given to us at the station on a need-to-know basis, we still are not quite sure what the flashpoint was for the Vice Kings' rampage. Now we do know that the Glenview Hills area is somewhat back to normal as the cleanup begins, Jack." Jack Armstrong: "Any word on when the shops will be back open for business, officer Mike?" Mike McCabe: "Well, er... we're not sure, Jack. There's a lot of work to be done and shopkeepers and citizens alike here are keeping an eye out for any further activity as they sweep away the mess and try to get back to living their lives. In the Eye-in-the-Sky Chopper 2, this is Officer Mike McCabe. Jack." Jack Armstrong: "Flying Officer Mike McCabe of the Stilwater Police Department over Glenview Hills. We'll bring you details on this story as they happen. In the newsroom, I'm Jack Armstrong." |
Overworld
Misplaced Sounds
In the Barrio District, there are two sound emitters used outside of a Vinyos y Licores building located in Cecil Park across from around the District's Stronghold. It is called AMB_INT_MZK_HAIR_BR, implying it was supposed to be used inside the Do It Up Hair Salon in Southern Cross and AMB_INT_MZK_PAWNSHOP_BR, implying it was intended for a cut pawn shop interior related to the Theft Activity. The fact it's labelled as an interior sound and sounds like it, is also rather jarring.
Out-of-Range Store Owner Dialogue
Due to the Hapton Hotel near Wardill Airport being treated entirely like a "store" rather than the On Thin Ice section, the following STOREOWNER_GREET and STOREOWNER_FARE voice clips aren't normally heard for the HFBIZ character due to being too far out of the player's range.
On a similar note, the BFBIZ store owner of the Image As Designed located in Hunstersfield doesn't have any voice clips, but they're all used due to pedestrian being the exact same in the Union Square branch.

Donnie Name Typos
In the mission recap for Guardian Angel (MSN_WR03_STORY), Donnie is spelled as "Donny". This was fixed in other language localizations, except for the Japanese version,
Lin's plans for the Rollerz were going well, but she wanted things to go a little faster. She asked you to raid the Rollerz' chop shop, leaving Donny, the Rollerz' top mechanic, unharmed. Just when Donny thought you were about to finish him off, Lin came in and pretended to rescue him. She gained some trust with the Rollerz, and you got to shoot their shop to pieces. Not a bad day.
The same typo also appears in the Just a Girl cutscene in the French translation (VOC_AMWR_WR1CUT1_2).

---|---|
VOC_AMWR_WR1CUT1_2=C'est Donny qui a fait l'aileron? |
VOC_AMWR_WR1CUT1_2=The spoiler looks like Donnie's work. |
In a similar instance, Donnie's name in Japanese is translated as ダニー (danii) rather than ドニー (donii), making it sound like "Danny" instead. They are present in the MSN_RACETRACK_STRONGHOLD_STORE_STORY and UNL_WR09_5 strings, where the latter is unused.

Using her connection with Donnie, Lin was able to find the storage garage where the Rollerz keep several of their high performance cars. Their location revealed, you had little trouble destroying all of the Rollerz vehicles while they were safely tucked away in the garage. |

Miscellaneous
Liquor Store Name Error
The Liquor Store in Copperton, is referred to as a Brown Baggers on the map despite not carrying that on the signage.
Other
- The "MSN_LC09_GOTO_MANSION" string in the "House Call" mission doesn't have the location marked in blue unlike other strings.
- The voice clips for the "BMATHL" character are erroneously duped as "ATHL", but all of them sound exactly the same. The latter name could possibly be an earlier name to identify NPC names.
