Regional Differences

Cacti may speak Japanese, but do they speak it well?
...But does it make sense?
The translations on this page need to be proofread. If you are fluent enough in this language, please make any corrections necessary!
Hmmm...
To do:
Provide comparisons/translations for the character bios if deemed necessary, and other things that may have been missed. Apparently the last two stages are implied to be Hell and Heaven in the Japanese version; find out if this is true.

The title screen is completely different between the Japanese and US versions. The US version has a small animation added where the word "Blasters" slides in from the right. The Japanese title, 四天明王, translates to "The Four Heavenly Kings of Light".

The Japanese version uses a unique pink font for the main menu. This was replaced with the regular font seen on the character and stage select in the US version, presumably as a result of palette changes related to the new title logo.

Introduction

Japanese Script Literal Translation English Script
私は、四天明王神。 邪悪なる魔王アシュラを倒すべく、地球にやって来た平和の使者だ。小太郎、アヤメ、気電坊、千四郎よ、お前違に私の力をわけあたえよう。 そして、地上にはびこる悪を滅ぼすのだ。 I am the God of the Four Heavenly Kings. I am the messenger of peace who has come to earth to defeat the evil demon king Asura. Kotaro, Ayame, Kidenbou and Senshirou, I share my power with you. And destroy the evil that infests the earth. Horatio, Tiffany, Marco, Leo, listen to me carefully. I am Hyprion. I've come to the earth of defeat the evil Ashura and restore peace. I will share my power with you four so together we may destroy the evil that has spread over the earth.

Naturally with a game released during this period, the English translation takes several liberties and makes some grammatical errors ("of defeat the evil Ashura"). Namely, the deity speaking in the intro was simply given the name of Hyprion, and the text about him being God and a messenger of peace were both removed.

Characters

As seen above, the four playable characters received anglicized names in the US version.
