Unused Demon Conversations

Horde/Legion Conversations

At one point in time, it seems it was possible to encounter Hordes of demons of the same personality type and converse with them. ("Legion" is the name used internally to refer to Hordes, which is a little confusing since there is a demon named "Legion".) The Hordes encountered in-game are thematic based on the area or situation, and they cannot be communicated with in any way. When Hordes do talk in-game (at the beginning of the battle or when they are confused and fighting amongst themselves) five lines appear in speech bubbles from various parts of the Horde. Many demon conversation situations have corresponding unused Horde lines, also in groups of five lines. There are lines for several dozen different situations for each of the twelve different (standard) demon personalities. References to a cut feature called "Legion Skills" made through a "contract" are also mentioned in some of the lines, which was intended to be a replacement for recruiting Hordes through Scout.

In addition, it seems that a few of the conversation skills were a bit different earlier in development. Chitchit seemed to be just straight up giving gifts, Pleading for health involved worshiping the demon, and Fundraise was even less subtle about the methods involved.
