After a hiatus of 12 years, Street Fighter IV has the World Warriors' 2D fighting-game madness evolving into the third dimension, as it introduces the Focus Attack system and the new action to pull off cinematic Ultra Combos (and some command throws) with skill! In this console port of the original Japan-only arcade version. Abel, C. Viper, Rufus, El Fuerte, Seth, and Gouken enter as newcomers, while Cammy, Dan, Fei-Long, Gen, Rose, and Sakura make their return to the roster.

It's also notable for being the first Street Fighter game to feature extensive voice acting in both English and Japanese, thanks to the new Dual Audio feature.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • There are three unused voice clips by the in-game announcer: "Dee Jay Wins!", "Thunder Hawk Wins!" (implying that both characters were planned to be playable before Super Street Fighter IV), and an ominous warning about the "character color" changing.
  • More regional and version differences, such as the title screen being different between the console and Windows versions.

Regional Differences

Character Names

Elementary, my dear Cactus.
This needs some investigation.
Discuss ideas and findings on the talk page.
Specifically: Is the name region swap on the PS3 version dependent on the console region or the system language?

As in previous Street Fighter titles, some of the characters have different names in the Japanese version. On the PlayStation 3 version, if the Japanese version of the game is played on any other region console, the international names are used, and vice versa.

Japan International
M. Bison Balrog
Balrog Vega
Vega M. Bison
Gouki Akuma

Focus Attack

The Focus Attack is called "Saving Attack" in the Japanese version.

Version Differences

The Windows version features online play via Games for Windows Live, with built-in voice chat and PC-exclusive achievements, as well as higher resolutions and three new freely selectable visual styles ("Ink", "Watercolor", and "Posterize").

The Xbox 360 version supports custom soundtracks, but it's unknown if this could also apply to the PS3 version.
